*Note - My 'time played' counter doesn't accurately reflect my time with the game as I completed it on console before buying it on Steam*

Honestly, when Telltale Games went belly up a few years back I thought we'd never see video games of this kind ever again. If i had to describe Last Stop to a friend i'd say it feels like a Telltale Game if the graphics and audio were very polished. But it doesn't just stop there, I've not seen voice acting and story telling this good in ages. I loved the mystery and intense moments. The three characters we follow each have an individual compelling story that often collides with the other.

I always got a kick when playing one character and their path's unknowingly crossing with the other. For example when John is sitting at the bus stop after work and Meena walks by in the background. Then when you play as Meena later you see John sitting at the bus stop. I liked this little detail quite a bit. The game is a good length for it's cost and I really encourage gamers to check it out.

My only criticism is something that many other reviewers have touched upon already and that is the 'illusion of choice' with regard to dialogue options. In a handful of conversations it became pretty obvious that out of the three choices that i was presented with, each one would have resulted in the exact same bit of dialogue being delivered. So for a game that has multiple choice it can have a habit of feeling quite linear. What saves it for me though is with that a side, the story being told is very good. In conclusion I feel like we should applaud games such as this as it will encouraged developers to make more of them.

I was originally going to let this game pass me by, purely for the reason that I don't actually own a webcam. I have one built into my laptop, both my iPhone and iPad have cams but as I'm not a streamer I haven't actually had a need for a webcam as part of my PC gaming set up. Then I read it was possible to play without one and thought "Why not?".

Firstly the game runs very well with just a keyboard and mouse, I get the experience must change dramatically with a Cam but you can still get invested in the story with just a simple click of your mouse to blink.

Secondly I don't appreciate what this game was able to accomplish in such a short amount of time, that being reducing a fully grown man into a choked up mess. I wasn't really expecting to be put on such an emotional journey. The story telling is exceptionally good, the dialogue and voice acting is of a standard I don't often see but greatly appreciate.

I enjoyed the game mechanics with being able to manipulate objects around me and most of all I really enjoyed the game's aesthetic. I'm not sure what the art style is called exactly but I've started to see it crop up more and more since playing Life Is Strange and I think its great.

So I've listed all the games pros so now would usually be the time I'd start listing the ♥♥♥♥ but to be honest, I can't actually think of any. There wasn't anything about this game I didn't enjoy. I would recommend using a webcam to play the game as intended but don't be put off if you don't have one handy the game is still enjoyable without.

I'm what has come to be known as a World of Warcraft refugee. I started playing Warcraft back in 2004 and stayed faithful to the popular MMORPG through all of its nearly 14 year run. It was in it's latest expansion however where I had to finally admit the game isn't what it once was.
The expansion felt like a template of those that had come before it but not as fun.

A close friend of mine told me about Final Fantasy XIV and how I might prefer it so on that advice alone, I jumped ship. I was a little apprehensive at first when discovering that the game first launched back in 2010. 'I've missed so much!' I thought, but continued anyway.

From creating my character (an Archer named Amaethon who also has a flair for carpentry) to playing for about an hour, my mind was blown. I couldn't believe I've slept on this game for as long as I have.

Final Fantasy XIV is not some Warcraft clone, in my opinion, after 37 hours of game time I would say FFXIV in many ways is a superior game. The in-depth story, plentiful amusing side quests, the characters, the beautiful scenery, getting to ride a chocobo!, joining a free company (guild) and getting to buy housing that you can by furniture for. The game has built into it, so many really fun mechanics.

I think the biggest change for me though with comparing the both games is how much the community differs. The players. I feel more at home within the Final Fantasy community in a way I never really did in Warcraft. Everyone I've met so far in game are just genuinely lovely people who've helped me a lot. If you're looking for an MMORPG that you can get completely lost in. Get this one!

As stated by others the humour we know and love is there, with the majority of conversations with other characters causing me to chuckle. The animation is great, the same quality we've become accustomed to from the animated shorts.

But my main issue is... many aspects of the game just feel lazy. What do I mean? well at first its the little things, such as when you click something for your character to interact with it and the animated action simply doesn't exist. You click on a door and instead of seeing our character open the door and walk through, we get a fade in / fade out transition. You click an object to grab it and our character doesn't reach for where the object is, he pulls it from directly in front of him regardless if he was near the object or not.

When you change your character's appearance it doesn't change his appearance in his portrait during conversations. So when my guy is walking around the school looking slick with his fancy hair gel, he's still wearing his green cap during the dialogue sequences. There are quite a few moments when things don't make sense, like when the hall monitor requires you to have a hall pass to access parts of the school but when you click on the main entrance door to the school (To go outside) the character replies "I can't I don't have a hall pass"..... to go outside?

Another thing that I never thought I'd find frustrating is quantity over quality, in the sense that there is TOO much to click on in any environment with most clicks not amounting to much, mostly Coop just telling us why he won't interact with it. Because I have a little OCD I always feel like i have to interact with everything I can before moving onto the next location, the result of this was me actually falling a sleep at my desk without ever making it outside of the school.

Like i said, there is so much here they've done well, but I keep getting this nagging feeling that some aspects are low effort. But i'm giving it a recommend as I think the cost justifies the content and there is potential here.

I was first introduced to Telltale's catalogue of excellent video games with Back To the Future: The Game and since went on to play all their later releases, from The Wolf Among Us to Tales of the borderlands I've been a huge fan of all their work, Unfortunately this means that I missed the original incarnation of Sam & Max. From the first few minutes of playing the first episode of Save The World I realised what a fool I've been. The comedy is what shines the most, the quick / witty back and forth between this Dog & Rabbit had me in stitches. Between the forth wall breaking, pop culture references and even some pretty clever political humour I could see this game was suited to people with my particular brand of childish humour. Each episode goes from strength to strength with things just getting more and more ridiculous and absurd and by the time I was done, six episodes later, I couldn't believe I still wanted more Sam & Max. As I said, I never played the original so I can't really speak to the graphical improvements other than the game, its environment and characters all look very well polished and detailed. Never had any performance issues of any kind. Bring on Season 2 & 3!

**** Review Update ****

So i took the opportunity to replay the game again only this time I chose to play the 'Curator's Cut' version and it drastically changed my mind on my overall experience with the game. I can't believe that the devs went to such great effort to have other scenes created for characters who were off screen during the original play through so that you get to see what they were up to. It really fleshes out the story nicely and i found myself much more invested the second time around. Little Hope is not the weaker game. 10/10

**** Old Review ****

So far i'm enjoying this anthology series quite a bit but I do feel that Little Hope is somewhat 'weaker' than Man of Medan in many respects. As far as having an engaging spooky story with interesting characters, Little hope ticks most of the boxes. But it just feels like player participation has been watered down quite a bit. My participation felt almost passive in that It felt like watching a 90's horror movie that also had a handful of QTE's thrown in just to make sure I was still paying attention. When the player does have control of a character its often very brief and usually just to walk in a straight line before the next cinematic kicks in. But what stopped me from leaving a negative review is that I also liked my experience. The story really is spooky with a good twist and I liked that the choices I had to make felt like they had some weight to them. Overall, a great game for Halloween and I look forward to the next instalment.

I genuinely see potential with this game. Its the sorta simulation designed to kill time and in that sense there is stuff to do here. But I did have a problem with the performance. In terms of system resources a game of this quality should not be almost cooking my CPU. It especially shouldn't be having frame rate stuttering with my GTX 1080. I don't think this was low effort, I think there was a genuine attempt to make something good here, it just needed a little longer to cook in my opinion.

This game is refreshing to play, it feels reminiscent of early Telltale Games as far as how scenes play out, how you interact with the environment around you and even some fun quicktime events thrown in for good measure. The 'look' of the game, the backdrops, world building and characters have a real charm to them,

I got the sense pretty early on that this has been made with care and attention. It has some evidence of being an Indie studio game with one or two things that i feel needed a polish, the characters, although animated well and look great, suffer with a case of the dead eyes.

Also there were one of two scenes where dialogue was contradictory to what actually happened in the events prior. Lastly...the ending kinda happens at an unusual spot. It kinda feels like maybe a dead line was reached so the game kinda just .. stops.

To summarise the game starts off very strong and ends a little weak, but if you can ignore this issue, and I do hope that you will, you'l find something really special here. I look forward to carrying on.

Having just finished episode one I have to admit that I enjoy seeing Dontnod do what they do best, Giving us a gripping story that starts off based in reality and then moves over to the surreal pretty quickly. Tell Me Why feels unique but still carries with it a familiar aesthetic charm that we saw in LIS2. Alaska is represented beautifully here. Our two main protagonists are both interesting in their own unique ways and both are voice acted well. I'm really looking forward to the next episode!

- Follow up after reading a few of the negative reviews-

The problem Dontnod face is that they need to try and get out from under the shadow of Life Is Strange. They set the bar high from the beginning and unfortunately its the game they continue to be marked against.

Is Tell Me Why a good game? yes.
Is Tell Me Why better or as good as Life Is Strange? Oh heavens no.

But by treating the game as its own thing, almost as if it weren't made by Dontnod, Is it then a game worthy of your time? I think so. There's enough mystery here to keep you interested across all 3 chapters.

**Review updated 11/12/2021**

The game runs very well on my system in both outdoor and indoor areas, its so refreshing to experience this game in fluid 60fps, not sure which update fixed it but thanks a lot devs.

** Old Review **

Currently unplayable with a Nvidia Gefore GTX 1080. With settings set to 'Original' at 1080p resolution my frame rate fluctuates around 48fps, I can get solid 60 frames in indoor areas but outdoors is one big cluster ****. Won't refund as i'm a huge fan of the game, if it improves over time as I guess it might i'll change my review accordingly.
