I've only played and finished 2 of the many endings this game has and I just gotta say, this is probably one of, if not the best hack and slash style games I have ever played. First the technical side of things.

The game doesn't throw a huge clump of game mechanics, game changing items and characters, and the characters that there are, are normally optional to chat with or get side quests, movement is incredible in this game, its incredibly fast and precise, during the beginning of the game you are limited to running around to get to the objective which might I add is still so much faster than your average Dark Souls clone, your mobility is fast and corresponds to exactly what input's you make, unlike many other hack and slack games which I've played to this point that make you feel as if you need to perfectly calculate every movement and parry. Parrying or dodging is also extremely generous as I've yet to of die once even with mashing the dodge button granted i'm playing on easy mode, difficulty's vary from easy all the way to very hard, this gives the more relaxed users that pick easy. Auto attacks and dodge for those who that might be new to these types of games or prefer a relaxing, casual play through, say if there more interested in the lore than pressing 10 buttons every second and preparing all your buffs before a boss battle, but for the more hardcore players out there, very hard mode is ruthless which isn't my cup of tea, you literally die in 1 hit, but everyone has there own play styles. Ill move onto the in-game stuff now.

Each and every character in the game is memorable from their unique and interesting dialogue and backstory, to their personality and character design, this even includes all the side quests. Getting to unlock and discover new areas, items and lore throughout each and every play through and getting to see a new perspective and understanding on the story line, has been the most fun I've had in playing games for a while, usually when completing the base game. New game plus is something that might be a turn off to some since its usually consists of playing throughout the entire game again but in a higher more difficult state, not in Nier: Automata though. You keep your levels, items and chips through nearly every ending, and get to play through and experience parts of the game where the other characters might be at the time, I don't want to spoil too much so ill move onto the combat, unlike other hack and slash's that make you increase your weapon level or get new gear as the game progresses, you don't need to collect a single new weapon or upgrade your weapon once to complete the story in the way that its intended. Your default weapons for your character as well as your pod can be stock and you'll still have a blast playing the game.

Nier: Automata has been on my wish list for quite a while and now that I've spent the money to buy it, i don't regret a single cent. For a game that came out in 2017, its story, visuals, mechanics, soundtracks, characters and optimisation were way ahead of its time. I highly suggest people who are either, new to hack and slash's and want a easy to digest introduction game, which might bring out your interest in more of these types of games or gamer's who enjoy hack and slash's but don't want to play another incredibly difficult rage inducing hack and slash game.
