Is this some sort of off season April Fool's joke? Come on Relic! For what I paid for in the Premium Edition I expected ATLEAST another Campaign and maybe a new army or 2. This is a ridiculous excuse for an xpac. 'Expansions' for COH2 contained so much more and that was what I expected from the PREMIUM Edition. a 'EXPANSION' Pack not some craptacular DLC addon. Poor ammount of content for the price tag and a slap in the face to Premium owners that 'this' is their included Expansion Pack.

Between this and Total War Warhammer 3's last DLC Sega is showing they are running these studios into the ground allowing this kinda of content to be sold for the price they are charging.

A pitaful compensation for killing support of what 'was' a good game. I won't review bomb the original but its sad that this is suppose to compensate the players because CA deemed the DLC was not meeting sales demands.

That being said I won't review bomb the original game but can atleast note my disgust with CA killing a game early in it's life cycle only to tease a new game and nothing to show for it. If I'm gonna be sold the same game twice and DLC will not transfer ala TW: Warhammer that will be the last straw.

The original Command & Conquer was one of the first true PC games I ever owned. I poured so many hours into the original and subsequent sequels I have been a fan ever since (Except for Tiberian Twilight which I don't even consider canon in my mind)

That being said when I heard of the remastered and how they were going about making it I was shocked that EA would goto so much effort getting original parties involved (Petroglyph) and a studio with a proven track record for remakes as well(LemonSky). The biggest kicker was when I found out the original composer Frank Klepacki was in charge or remastering the sound track. I still to this day love listening to the C&C sound tracks and Frank's remaster and remakes found in this package do not disappoint.

Now fan boyism aside the down and dirty of this game.

Game play is near exactly what it was back in the 90's with the exception of a cleaned up build menu and queue most if not all the AI quirks that were present in the original are here.

Being a 20 year old AI don't expect it to be challenging but also it is unforgiving. Attack a harvester? Expect every unit at the AI's command to come crushing down on you. Its rather blunt in the tactics it uses. (There are mods to help with the AI issues)

Pathfinding is the same as it was before which is pretty bad(Again some mods address this)

Only reason I can't fault the game for these behaviors is this is how it was in the past. This game is almost a 1 to 1 remake of the experience from the 90's and I respect petroglyph's decision for such.

All and all I recommend this to anyone who wants to re-experience a blast from the past in HD quality or someone who came into the series late but wants to see where it all began. Just as I said for those who have never played the original be prepared as the AI experience is nothing like a modern RTS.

Great single player story. Onine is where most of the action will be just be mindful of modders that pop into sessions.

All and all content keeps coming out its crazy to think this game is 8+ years old.

Can't recommend it enough. New content constantly being released(both paid and free) and such diverse factions that I myself have put hundreds of hours into and still haven't played them all.

I nominated this for "Labor or Love" and it rightly deserves it as the devs keep pushing new content.

Now with TW: Warhammer 3 on the horizon I look forward to nominating it for the same come next year.

I've been playing Total War games since Empire and so far my favorite remains TW: Warhammer 2 though this makes a close second.

I love the romance mode as it brings the historical series of TW so close to the Fantasy with excellent gameplay and lords that seem very different from each other.

The game runs great on a modern system with very little performance hits when battles intensify granted this may differ from system to system (GTX 1080 here)

All and all if your a fan of fantasy or historical Total War games you find something to please both sides here.

I first played the Escape Velocity games back in the 90's and this game brings back that look and feel I enjoyed so much back then.

Although the content leaves me wanting more I can't fault it being a 'Free' passion project from an awesome dev.

Can't wait to see whats in store for future updates.

As if someone spilled dinosaurs into Tropico and out came this gem. Not perfect but enjoyable to say the least.

A fun and fair F2P game. No wallet warriors here to smurf on those that don't invest anything.
The devs even do plenty of events and giveaways that a purely F2P player will find more than rewarding.

Having been a player since the closed beta days I've seen the highs and lows and after ditching their old publisher IGP things have steadily improved and I look forward to what the future holds.
With hundreds of different mechs implimented into the game that can cater to many playstyles theres plenty of content to explore.

My one gripe I would say at this point is the continued use of a aging (yet highly modified) version of the CryEngine.
I'd love to see a game engine switch but I realize that its easier said than done.

That aside what you'll find here is a great game with a good community. Plenty of Units(Clans) to join and weekly events to reward all players for just playing.
