Book of Hours is a rare thing: a cozy puzzle game that manages to be dark and ominous without stressing you out. Time restrictions are essentially non-existent, and while poor play (or failed experimentation) can hinder you for a while, setbacks are temporary. Every new room you explore comes with books to index, items to sort, tools and workstations to enable new options, and even furniture to rearrange.

Do yourself a favor and go in blind. Every realization and flash of insight feels like a reward. The less you know, the more there will be for you to find out. But, of course, a good librarian knows there's no shame in looking for help when you are stuck.

You will want to keep copious notes — not because the game is difficult, but because it will feel like the right thing to do. It's a bit of casual roleplaying that will also help you keep track of your dozens of books, consumables, tools, and helpers.
