Very well designed VR sports game. Controls are tight and natural. The game is designed in a way that it fixes the biggest issue I've had with tennis-like games; movement. Rather than having the typical teleporting or movement via thumbstick, you have a much smaller area to deal with which in turn makes those features unnecessary. This makes the game feel very natural and doesn't lower the skill ceiling like teleporting does. Currently my favorite VR sports game by a wide margin. I have lower hours on my Steam version since I also purchased in on my Quest 3 directly so I can make use of Mixed Reality.

Awesome roguelite that was fantastic in early access and can only be better with v1.0. Fun in single player as well as two-payer coop. Good devs.

VERY fun online multiplayer game of hybrid 3-on-3 volleyball. It has that combination that all good games strive for - easy to pick up, difficult to master.

The viewing angle takes a little bit of getting used to. At first, you might find yourself whiffing at the ball when you think you should have hit it. I suggest just trying to do simple volleys at first to get used to the camera and controls rather than trying to slam the ball all the time. Once you have that down, you will soon be setting the ball for teammates and dunking on the opponents at the net.

The game has dedicated servers (huge plus!) and bots to fill empty slots. On top of all that, it's free to play (but certainly worth money in my opinion). More people need to give this game a try.

This has easily become one of my favorite games.

It is somewhat like PUBG, but on a smaller scale, with many AI, and perma-death. The environments are incredibly rich. The PvPvE aspect adds a lot to the game. Also, due to the nature of the weapons (not modern), the gun fights typically last longer and allow for more strategy. Matches are somewhat of a chess match. Paying attention to the smallest audio clues can make the difference between victory or death.

Playing cooperatively with a friend really makes the game shine. The matches can get really tense and the gun fights can be very memorable. When you add another friend into the mix (3-player), the strategies are even more robust.

It can take a while to get used to all of the little nuances of the game, but it is well worth it. Playing with a friends who is already familiar with the game can help a lot.

Really enjoyable substitution for the real thing. Even better when playing online with friends.

This is a fun game that is great when you are looking for a multiplayer game that allows for fairly quick matches where you don't need to devote a lot of time if you don't want to.

The concept is actually quite simple (even if it looks a little confusing when you watch a video or two). You basically can't touch any obstacles that are the opposing team's color. If you do, you are incapped until a teammate walks over your body. If you were the last of your team to touch the opponent's obstacle, your team loses that round. It's the best of 3 rounds.

What makes it much more fun and challenging is the split-second decisions you have to make on the fly. The playing field is constantly changing. There are basically neutral beacons that once touched, become a form of a wall or moving obstacle that is your team's color and is deadly to the other team. There is some strategy as to which beacons you should activate and when. On top of that, there are different classes of characters and multiple abilities. An example would be using a stun ability... stun your opponent and cause them to fall down right in front of a wall that is bearing down on them...causing them to get incapped. The store page obviously does a better job of explaining the classes, so I won't bother doing that here.

Hopefully this game catches on with more people, as it does appear to be very polished and is a lot of fun to play with friends. Definitely worth a look in my opinion.

This is basically a copy/paste from my previous post (which went ignored) regarding my original post 6 months prior.

Tried giving this a go since way back in March when I played. I had forgotten just about everything from my previous play through, but it all came rushing back pretty much immediately. So much seems exactly the same.

Things that jumped out right away:

o Camera (or lack of) to see an overview of the hole you are on. I'd say by far this is the biggest annoyance of this game. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I feel like 100% of the enjoyment is lost when you sink the ball into a hazard that you don't even know is there. This trial and error is extremely frustrating. There should be an overview (top-down) button that is always selectable at the very least A flythrough camera would also be nice at least for the start of the hole, but a birds-eye view would at least give you an idea where you are even shooting for. It is a fundamental of the game to be able to see the course/hole to know what you are aiming for. This is so much more important (in my opinion obviously) than additiona courses or ball shapes at the moment. It is the one thing that makes me not want to play the game again.

o No sound for striking the ball. Not only should it make the sound of hitting the ball, but it should also be louder based on how hard it is hit. Without this sound, it just seems weird (especially since hitting the ball into an object makes a sound). Very sterile and like the game is muted. The sounds could be realistic (like a ball actually "pinging" off the putter).. or more arcade-like with the sound of a swoosh of air and the driver whacking the ball. Just something to give it a little "life".

o No visual or audio cue that the turn is over and the ball is ready to be struck again.

o The stroke counter resetting to 0 immediately after sinking the putt. While yes, the score card is shown at that time, it still would be nice to leave the current stroke count at the bottom right of the screen until the hole is advanced. Since that is where you normally are keeping track during the game, it always seems odd when you sink the putt and glance to see what you got (something that is just natural), but just see a big 0 instead of your actual stroke total.

o Ball is routinely covered by world geometry. While you can still see your power indicator, it is very jarring (and just plain looks odd) to try and aim a ball you can't see.

I know this is still EA and you guys have been working on it quite a bit. Just giving my opinion again for that very reason...

I have been looking forward to this game for quite some time. I had watched a couple of videos created by people who apparently had early access to the game. It appeared to be right up my alley (I love switch stick shooters *&* difficulty).

What I did not see from the videos or read at all in the description of the game on the Steam store page, was a deal-breaking design decision by the developers. This game has unlimited lives with no option to disable it. This means that the only true 'death penalty' to this game is your score takes a hit when you die. For some that might mean something, but for myself, I couldn't care less about score. I play these kinds of games for their progression (and the difficulty required to do so). As this game stands now, I have zero interest in playing it. You can basically finish the entire game, regardless of your skill, with time being the only factor (it appears you could just keep killing the enemies by dying and respawning on top of them... maybe there is an achievement for someone willing to try it!). I mean, you don't even have to restart the level at least... You just keep respawning.

This isn't a review from someone who doesn't like a particular genre of game, but buys it anyway and then complains about it. I love this style of game. I'm hard pressed to find another game like this that chose the "everybody can... errr, will... win" approach. On top of this, the game is apparently fairly short. Not a good combo.

The purpose of my review is to help others (who may not know of this mechanic) in their purchasing decision. Should the developers choose to give the OPTION to have lives for those of us who don't want training wheels on our games, I would certainly give the game another go. Since there hasn't even been a single reply to the threads about this that I have seen, I am doubting there is an interest.

If Steam had a neutral review score, I would have chosen it, because I understand that some people might actually like the unlimited lives aspet of the game.

Brick Battalion is a fun competitive puzzle game in the 'match gems' genre. It reminds me a little of Dr. Mario meets Columns. Instead of just clearing gems off of your own screen, your successful combinations (chains) directly trigger attacks on your opponent's ships, in the form of debris. This debris is randomly placed on top of your opponent's gems, typically blocking their ability to create matches. The only way to clear the debris is to make a gem match next to the debris, which will destory it along with the gems. The larger the combinations of gem matches, the larger the attack on your opponents (and subsequent debris field dropped upon them). Of course, the whole time you are wreaking havoc on your opponents, they are also attempting to wreak havoc upon you.

Pros:

+ Online Multiplayer that supports up to 8 players in various combinations of humans, AI Bots, Teams
+ Plenty of customization options
+ Addictive when playing against friends - always looking to create a huge chain attack by planning ahead

Cons:

- Currently low playerbase - Likely need to get friends to buy it as well (it's worth it IMO)

While I don't think it would be fair to call it a "Con", due to the fact that it doesn't impact the gameplay, I would say that the graphics are only adequate. The particle effects and sounds are nice, but I feel like the menus and color scheme are a bit dreary/dated. While this doesn't hamper gameplay in the least, I do wish there was a bit more polish and shine to the overall aesthetics. Certainly not a deal-breaker, however. Just something that would help being a bit more character to the game.

The only other thing I would like to see is an alternate rotation of the gems provided. Those of you who have played games like Dr. Mario will be well aware of the way the gems rotated. While it might seem like a small thing, it really makes a big difference (especially when the game picks up speed and you have very little time to think). I routinely end up misplacing a gem, because its horizontal position moves one column over while being rotated, due to the way the gems rotate arond the right-side "block". The dev has said this alternative rotation scheme might be offered in an update, which would be outstanding and certainly make this the complete package in my mind.

All things considered, I find this game to be a fun game to play with friends. It has that "one more match" appeal that is exactly what you are typically looking for in a game like this. Rarely do you see games in this genre that also offer online multiplayer (up to 8 players!). Not only can you play online with your friends (or strangers), but you can even play cooperatively (teams) in any combination of humans vs AI bots. There is even the ability to spectate a match once you are knocked out (or even for the whole match, if you choose to do so). It's really nice to see so much customization offered.

If you like this genre of game, I don' think you can go wrong with your $10.
