Literally the best game I have ever played. Highly recommend to everyone who hasn't yet been enlightened to the profitability of ethically questionable surgeries

Really fun and enjoyable near-future space and geopolitical simulator! Realism takes the forefront of how spaceships work which is ironically very refreshing for the space genre. Combat requires proper strategy around positioning and what kind of weapons you bring into the fight.

Overview
Wooden Battles aims to take on the feel of a battle simulator similar to Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (TABS) but branches off upon it with a fleshed out building mechanic and adds a ton of cool and unique gamemodes into the mix. Some of these gamemodes can include missions with preset enemy armies you need to take on with limited cash, wave mode where you build a huge fort and defend against endless waves and even a campaign mode called 'Conquest' where you aim to conquer a home with minuscule soldiers.

The Building Mechanic
This building mechanic I mentioned earlier allows the player to create huge battles and re-create their favourite battles throughout history with soldiers ranging from modern day to the world wars and even back to the medieval ages!

Soldier Varients
Not only does Wooden Battles offer a great plethra of units to play with but they also have multiple weapons that they can equip. Some examples of this is musketeers with a bayonet or grenade launcher, a sniper with a faster firing or a more accurate but slower rifle and a grenadier with a cluster grenade or frag!

Conquest (The Campaign Mode)
Conquest is the main attraction of Wooden Battles. This gamemode is shaped to be an RTS which takes place in a house with tiny little soldiers fighting for land and power. Filled with strategy, this gamemode has the potential to make you play for hours and achieve victory or go all out and fail miserably. Failing in this game only encourages new tactics and helps new players get their head around the mechanics of this game.

If you are looking for a few tips on Conquest, here are some:
  • Capture land early on for extra money
  • Avoid starting wars on your own, wait for them to occur and jump in and steal as much land as possible
  • Always defend all forts you own
  • Don't get cocky

The Developer is a Great Guy!
Seriously though, SP is a really great guy! He interacts with the community, gives tips and takes feedback.

Conclusion
So to wrap it all up, Wooden Battles is a very fun game with a ton of replayability and enjoyment. I highly recommend if you have the money and definately worth saving up for even if it isn't on sale.

Running With Rifles (RWR) is an amazing game to waste time and just relax. If you like the intensity of crouching in front of enemy lines behind cover, this is the game for you. If you like sneaking into enemy bases and picking them off one by one with a silenced pistol, this is the game for you.
