PeanutButter BOOTED me for nearly taking his city in game. I highly recommend you NEVER play a game with PeanutButter, especially when he's the host. He will boot you as soon as you start winning.

@Babyrolls click Multiplayer in the game menu, then choose Internet. Then, select any game and click Join on the right. If there are no games listed, host your own.

WHAT TO EXPECT in ONLINE CIV:
1. Expect to play for 3 or more hours. If you cannot, at least mention it to the group in the staging room (the Setup Room). Sometimes, other players are also looking for a short game, but mostly you'll make ENEMIES and RUIN YOUR CHANCES OF BEING INVITED TO FUTURE GAMES if you suddenly QUIT. People HATE quitters. Announce your intentions to leave BEFORE the game starts, and no one will blame you.
2. Do not SPAM messages in the Staging Room or in the actual Game. Avoid racial terms & personal attacks. If you can't compete and show respect to the group and individual players, you will most likely NOT be allowed to play in future games. Very few people have this problem, but they annoy other players, and therefor they never get invited, or they get kicked by the HOST before the game launches. If you want to play, watch what you say.
3. Get permission before joining games in progress! (before joining by clicking the arrow next to your friend's name in STEAM.)

MAC GROUP & FRIENDS: Invite all MAC players before launch to MAC GROUP, and add them to friends. We are a SMALL community, and you will find many more people to challenge if we all join the MAC group and add each other to friends.
Also, when you log on JOIN THE MAC GROUP CHAT ROOM. Tell your friends to do the same thing, and you can even post this and my other informative messages on your STEAM profile too. Let's spread the word. And the word is PreBigBanger. (ok forget that last part.)

ONLINE GAME LAG SUGGESTIONS: I have had great games with people who also have low pings and fast computers. Try playing with people who have pings under 100, or under 300 should be ok too.
Also, try playing with only HUMAN players, and do NOT add any A I players to your online game, because A I seems to lag the game.
Also turn on MULTIPLAYER AUTO END TURNS by going to: MENU, OPTIONS, Game Options, Multiplayer Auto End Turns (check the box.)
Also, limit your AUTO SAVES (also in Options) as much as possible. I'm still not sure if setting it to 0 turns it off or not. Try testing it. If so, leave it off. You don't need it anyway. If someone crashes, just invite them back to the game using STEAM.
Finally, CLOSE ALL OTHER PROGRAMS WHILE PLAYING CIV ! Turn off UPDATES (Auto Updates too). Turn off any Downloads of movies, music, updates, EMAIL PROGRAMS, ITUNES, anything that will interfere even slightly with your computer's performance as it tries to receive, process and send results back.

UPDATE: CROSS PLATFORM ISSUE (can't play with PC players.) Here's the history on this… We USED TO be able to play against PC (Windows) players, but we can no longer do this because of the most recent patch that came out JUST FOR PC. PC players are now on a different VERSION than MAC users. If we don't have the same version, we can't play together. So, it sucks worse than getting a tooth pulled, and I can't understand why the powers that be will not get off their assess and fix this problem in a hurry! WRITE TO THE COMPANY. EMAIL THEM. CONTACT YOUR FAVORITE ADMIN and ask them to HURRY UP AND FIX OUR MAC - PC CROSS PLATFORM ABILITY ! MAC USERS ARE GETTING MAD ! We paid the same amount of money as PC players, yet PC players have the latest fixes, and we are still playing with game crashing bugs and we hardly have any online games to choose from. TELL SOMEONE NOW! Let's make this change happen!
