Very cheap, very good for the price, great for an hour or two of messing around when high on a late night

Good software. Especially love the tools to display word count and the achievements; really makes it easy to set yourself a goal and focus on it.

This is one of the best games I have ever played.

Its main focus is on surface warships, although it allows you to build many other things as well.

It's a block-based vehicle building game, but unlike most other games of that type one of its main focuses is on the design of each subsystem. Instead of plopping down an engine block, you decide whether you want a gasoline or steam engine, and then depending on your choice you place down boilers, crankshafts, steam pistons, reduction gears, and propeller shafts, or you build your engine out of cylinders, crankshafts, carburetors or fuel injectors, and turbo or super chargers, Instead of just plopping down a gun turret that does x dps, you build the turret from the ground up, trying out different combinations of autoloaders, recoil absorption systems, barrels, gun mantlets, and a variety of other components, before designing a shell that works with that specific gun.

What this game excels at is creative freedom. You can build practically anything you want. Age-of-sail ships of the line, using massed batteries of small guns, up to World War-era battleships with devastating gun turrets. You can build light planes with only a few missiles for harassing attacks, or airships that dwarf Yamato carrying enough firepower to level a small country. You can build railguns that fire projectiles at speeds in excess of three kilometers per second, or you can build super-heavy artillery pieces that fire slow shells two meters across, able to blow a smaller ship in half with a single shot.

While its future seems somewhat uncertain and concerning, with several key systems being reworked or removed (primarily, the removal of the requirement for your ships to have fuel to move with or ammunition to shoot with), overall I believe this game is well worth the asking price.

This game sucks you in like nothing else. I mean, the learning curve can be pretty insane, but once you get the hang of it even the base game is really fun. Once you get into the DLCs and mods, you can easily lose days to it.

Only thing to watch out for is that games can become kinda stagnant after a couple decades, unless you're willing to declare plenty of wars or you've snowballed to an excessive degree.

Overall, 9/10, would definitely buy again
