Parkasaurus is definitely an enjoyable management game with a few glaring flaws.

I found the general gameplay loop to be relaxing and addictive, making habitats for the cute and cartoonish dinos, setting up spots for visitors. All very calming. If you're looking for a (very) laid-back experience you couldn't go wrong! However...

If depth or challenge of ANY kind is a requirement for you this would be a skip. You barely have to engage with the mechanics to pass every single campaign mission and even the "hardest" challenge is just a matter of patience (which at the end I didn't have). To complete the game you do not need to engage with 70% of the mechanics or only use them once (researching new tech is only needed at a bare minimum, upgrading buildings, levelling staff, breeding, the highly advertised (and super cute) hats are not needed). It's only basic habitat creation, the easiest difficulty of digging, and basic visitor needs. Just incredibly shallow. The campaign missions are also presented in an out of order way and it's easy to miss basic mechanics for awhile.

Happily setting a park up (in sandbox mode) is addicting, slowly building out nice pathways and neat looking habitats. It's easy to fall into a pattern of one more day to get those benches right or set-up a T-rex enclosure. If that's all you need it's a thumbs-up!

Not at all what I expected from watching the trailer, looking at screenshots, and reading the description. Hoping for an open Stardew-ish exploration game with maybe more combat, and was instead led to disappointment. It is insanely linear and hand hold-y. I'm just going from quest to quest with no incentive to explore on my own. Speaking of exploration!

Exploration is a CHORE! You have a set amount of energy (between sleeping and eating) and lo sprinting requires energy. Sprinting EATS your energy. So, you end up walking everywhere, FUN /sarcasm.

There is no real reason to backtrack to collect items for crafting/cooking as due to the linear nature of the game you really don't need to and there isn't anything to unlock progress worth the tedium of walking back. They say there's quick teleports but I've been playing for over two hours and still can't use 'em except for an item that is not plentiful. So...walking. There are VERY FEW objects to interact with regularly, the only crafting item to collect 2+ hours in with a tool is...wood. Everything else is boxes, and most items are either more seeds or gift items. That's it.

No combat so far... still waiting on that to show.

Building up the camp is also boring due to how linear and hand hold-y it is. You build when the quest prompts you to build. Not before, not later, THEN. And the components are gotten super easy aside from the slow, slow, walking.

Cooking is neat, I like that... that's it.

I do not recommend if you're looking for what the trailer offers!

In summary:
- Linear game with no real exploration outside of the story
- Story is slow to start and slow to move
- Crafting is simple, to a "meh" degree
- Gathering, farming, surviving is more an idea then fully fleshed out mechanics
- Restrictive energy use makes going from A to B a chore
- Cooking mini-game is good
