Metal Wolf Chaos was originally made to increase Xbox sales in Japan back in 2004, as PlayStation and Nintendo had an iron grip on the region. Not even Halo could make a dent. Microsoft collaborated with FromSoftware to make this game.

It was meant to be rival to Metal Gear Solid, hence the name Metal Wolf Chaos, and how Metal Wolf looks awfully similar to Metal Gear RAY, but it sold poorly and ended up being forgotten.

But now it’s back and remastered! Sort of- It still has the original voice acting but visuals have been upgraded… slightly.

It's a very short, cheesy, B movie-like game, with loads of weapons, destructible environments. The plot is simple, the one liners are quotable and the soundtrack is amazing. The controls are simple but clunky. There's a couple bugs, glitches, even with the remastered version. The combo system sometimes won't work. Some hits don’t register, sometimes cutscenes will take you out of the action. The game also crashes from time to time.

It’s still a FromSoftware game, you can stun enemies, weapons are imbalanced, bosses have ridiculous attacks, there's a poison section, the camera can be annoying, even the moonlight sword is here.

Is it worth it's price? Not really. It wasn't worth it back in 2004 and isn't worth it in 2025. It's one of those, "it's so bad, it's good" games that you would find in the bargain bin.

It's hard to recommend this game, it's very dated coming up to 20 years now.

The good, it's 47's darkest game. The atmosphere is dark, gritty, it's always raining and the soundtrack for this game is the best in the franchise. Jesper Kyd pulls no punches and he went on to do the soundtrack for the early Assassin Creed games.

The manor & meat factory are my favourite levels. They're feel immersive and oozing with style. Meat factory in particular seems inspired by Blade's opening scene.

The bad, the graphics, animations, mechanics are really dated. The map for example is hard to read at times, it'll say 5th floor but there can be a bunch of buildings around, so you've no idea which building 5th floor it's on about. The leaning animation looks really bad. The ladder animation looks goofy. Guards also will shoot you depending on certain rules which aren't clear or intuitive, it's a case of trial and error 100x or look it up in the ancient forums. For example, in the level "deadly cargo" if you equip GK17 while wearing SWAT gear despite every other SWAT using a GK17, your cover will be blown and they'll start shooting you.

The game also barely has a plot. It's just a setup for Blood Money. The levels are simply Agent 47's "Greatest hits" from the previous 2 games, they're not even played in chronological or given much context, so it can be confusing if you've never played the original or Silent Assassin.

Some levels are fun, but others can be boring and a chore to play through like the 3rd mission, and the Hong Kong missions.

But despite all this, I do love the game for the nostalgia. The final level despite being rushed, feels absolutely amazing when you pull it off, going guns blazing or stealth, either way, it was a good game, just bogged down by age. In desperate need for an update, if they ever get around to it.

One of the better 40k games in recent years.
The graphics are insane, the movement and animations really give the feeling of playing a 8 foot super soldier. The combat is fun, hitting a perfect parry following up with a gunstrike never gets old. The finishers are gory and glorious. The voice acting is very well done.
It has a good campaign (co-op with 2 others), some decent PvE (Operations) and PvP.

However, the gameplay loop is what you'll be doing most, if you don't mesh with it, you'll unlikely enjoy it. If you find it addicting, you'll be hooked like I am.

My only real downside is the lack of content. Campaign can be finished in 11 hours or less, and has no achievement for playing on the hardest difficulty setting.
PvE (Operations) only has 6 maps with little variation between difficulties.
PvP only has a mere 3 maps, with 3 game modes and has it's own set of issues.

An Epic account is needed for online. Only PvE & Campaign are crossplatform. PvP is not.

Hopefully, more content gets added and other issues get resolved. But as a fan of the Warhammer 40k universe and super soldiers, I'd say it's worth it.

Edit: They have included mod support! and already added another PvE map, this game is in good hands.

I've played the original RE4 over 5 times. It's my favourite RE title by far. So this review is gonna be biased. The remake changes A LOT of things, not only do the graphics look gorgeous but many levels have been entirely reworked and redone. Mechanics are different, knives can be broken, quicktime events are still here, there's even a parry mechanic! But despite these changes, it still feels like RE4, the classic action-horror adventure at it's heart. The story is the same albeit more of it, and characters feel a lot more fleshed out as well. The environments and sound design are phenomenal. Would totally recommend, especially if you played the original.

The controversial ending of Bioshock.
After 8 years, it still manages to look beautiful and run smoothly.
The stealth mechanics are hit & miss, I'd only recommend it if you're a Bioshock fan & want to see the ending since it links back to the first game.

I want to like this game. It's such a cool game.

But the constant lagging, frame drops in certain areas, stuttering, long load times (especially on north Prague and on the train) just prevent me from enjoying the game.
