A highly skill based twin stick shooter. While there is not a lot of variety to the gameplay between the different levels, it is a good amount of fun trying to improve your skills and get through the levels with less deaths.

I can clearly feel my skills increasing, getting more and more familiar with how my ship and its attached gun behaves.

I can see this turn into a good speedrunning game, as it's pretty much 100% skill based whether you die or not, how fast you complete the levels.

It is a fun game if you like 1) this style of combat and 2) Steven Universe and 3) don't get put off by occasional bugs.

IMPORTANT: The devs didn't use any of the "normal" keybindings and came up with their own. Despite the default Unity launcher that lets you remap all the inputs, none of the inputs in that list actually matter ingame. You also cannot change the keybindings ingame, so if you don't have an english keyboard layout, the keys are horrible. Luckily I had an Xbox controller available and the game is very enjoyable with that.

I've had some good fun with it, despite the keybindings issue and the not small amount of bugs (mostly getting stuck in various places, which can most often be solved by switching to another character; only encountered very few gamebreaking bugs). I liked exploring the different areas, playing with different characters, discovering new cool combinations. Now at ~32 hours I have 100% completed the game. You can probably play through it in half the time or likely even less if you're not one to check every corner of the map and just want to experience the main line quests. So maybe not quite worth the full price.

I love this game.

It's all a puzzle game needs to be for me to get into it: easy to understand mechanics, good difficulty curve, medium to hard to execute, no "intended" solutions, different solutions based on playstyle / wants... Zachtronic, you've outdone yourself on this one.

I hate it. It makes me mad and makes me rage and yet it still makes me want to come back and try again.

This game has some levels that flow like no tomorrow. And the soundtrack is pretty fire, too!
I played through all the official levels in the 3 hours you see above, however I have not "finished" the game, as there is still plenty of challenges to finish or community maps to make / play.

Those 3 hours included plenty of rage, too, this is tough as nails in some levels. Can recommend taking a break occasionally to clear your mind and reset your rhythm muscles!

No way to change the visual / auditory delay though, so if you have a noticeable delay, you'll have to live with it.

A fun game. The graphics obviously aren't overwhelming, but they are more then good enough for what this game is trying to be.

The distinction between worlds and the gradual learning curve make this a good game to pick up quickly, but you still notice a significant improvement on your skills in the late game compared to early game. The challenges make you think on your feet and add a nice, optional extra layer of difficulty on top. I've finished the base game in about 15 hours (after which i'm now writing this review), but that's a good amount of time for a good game. If you don't care about the optional challenges, you're probably done in less time, but who plays a game like this if they don't want to see how good they can get?

The DLC seems to be priced fairly for the amount of content it provides from what I can tell, so if you see me having played more since this review, you know I got myself the DLC to dabble a little more in some train valley action.

This game is a very unique experience, an antithesis if you will to all the fast paced, action packed games of today.

It is definitely not for everyone, but i'd argue if you are willing to try this game, you'll find its story intriguing, the gameplay relaxing and the little shade weirdly loveable.

But please, PLEASE if you get this game, do yourself a giant favor and play it completely blind, don't look up any solutions or tips or gameplay beforehand beyond what the trailer shows you. This game lives from its story, little puzzles, slow gameplay, decisions and lack of handholding, it's an experience. And even the smallest spoilers can ruin big parts of the game.
