Slime Rancher is a fantastic experience with some frustrating mechanics that can bog down or slow the vibe it offers. I enjoyed my time playing this game for sure but I believe that it suffers from a lot of issues that can make it feel like a chore to play from time to time. The two hardest hitters for me was the exploration and the inventory system. With the limited inventory space, it made exploration feel limited and just filled with backtracking to my ranch just so I can drop off my stuff because there was no point to push further and explore anything new with no free inventory spots. Secondly, the exploration itself was very dry to me. The entire loop of exploration was very samey. Explore until you find a locked door, explore until you find a key that opens the said door, and then discover new slimes and crops. Nothing super unique aside from the locked treasure caches, but I feel that those were also very lackluster. I'm recommending this game because as big of a fault I believe those two issues are, the game is still fantastic and should not be avoided due to a few major issues. The visuals, the economic aspect of the game, and even the story all left me emotionally impacted and eager to keep playing. When more content is released for the game I will definitely see myself returning.

Honestly went into this game wanting to hate but couldn't resist the charm it had to offer. I had very low expectations for it and now it's one of my favorite games.

After 200 hours in the first game and 80+ hours in the second I can safely say that if you are a filthy casul don't buy this game because we don't accept filthy casuls
