this is what happens when someone who can't design games has a vision for a game, but are too lazy to learn how to do it well and half-asses it

cool, but not fun

Wonderfully Made Yet Bitterly Boring

I've played almost every portal mod and hundreds of community chambers. Hear me out on this one.

This is a beautifully made mod and you can tell the creators put in a lot of care, but honestly it's just a really boring game. To give it credit, the models/animations are really nice, the atmosphere is well executed, and the voice acting/music is really well done. In terms of aesthetic execution, I think this is probably one of the best mods I've ever played. Though (without spoilers) I wasn't a huge fan of the ending's pacing.

But it's a real shame because I think the game-play is such a drag. Now I've played a lot of Portal in my life so I think I have an edge to solving a lot of puzzles, but none of the puzzles took me longer than 3 minutes each. The new mechanics introduced were interesting but not well incorporated. Many of the puzzles are either wildly cheese-able, have a very clear solution path, or don't have much depth.

By no means do I expect an extreme challenge with portal mods, but I think I've grown to expect puzzles which I seriously need to think. Portal: Reloaded was probably the hardest mod I've played and it only boasts 10 or so chambers. Portal Stories: Mel on challenge mode was also quite difficult. With the chambers in this mod I ended up just walking in and immediately solving it just by seeing what the chamber had. I just wish the puzzles had more oomph.

Overall I enjoyed playing through it, but it didn't feel like a puzzle game, more like a walking simulator at times. I wish there was more time spent on developing the puzzles to be a bit more fleshed out, and not so single-dimensional. I think you should play it to get your own opinion, but I think as a portal veteran that this mod was extremely intriguing in its aesthetics but very disappointing in its puzzles. I do think it's worth playing, but don't expect a significant challenge.

While honestly a fun experience, the game is EXTREMELY unbalanced for a shooter.

You get better cards the more you play, so matching against players with experience means they just always have better cards. It feels really frustrating to play, and there's so much to understand. Basically: To get better at this game, you have to lose a lot, and your aim/skill usually means little as you are constantly facing new abilities.

It is a fun experience, but the balance is just god-awful. I think you'll have fun for a bit, but the more you play the more frustrated you might become.

Also one of the achievements is 10,000 matches, what a silly way to inflate your game's playtime. Remove that nonsense please, or make the game actually playable for 10k matches.

WARNING: THIS GAME REQUIRES YOU TO ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO COUNT RHYTHM!

Are you good at Osu? Clone Hero? Any conventional rhythm game? If so, this game WILL NOT transfer easily. Most songs in those games are counted in 4/4 using 4 phrases, the rhythm aspect comes more from dexterity rather than counting.

This game requires you to know how to count rhythms that do not fall into the conventional music categories. Songs are not counted with 4 phrases, and the time signature constantly changes.

Are you a musician? This game will legitimately feel like reading sheet music for a song written by your friend who is a dirty jazz major.

YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO COUNT/READ:
>Regular Rhythms (Full, Half, Quarter, Eighth, Sixteenth, etc notes & Dotted Notes)
>Triplets & Pentuplets & etc
>Off Beats
>Non 4/4 time signatures (3/4, 2/4, Cut Time, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8 etc)
>Polyrhythms
>Triplet time on quarter notes and etc.
>Swing Notes

Are you a drummer? Congratz, this is the game for you!

Are you mildly proficient at reading sheet music? Congratz, this game will make sense to you!

Have you never picked up an instrument and only played Osu or guitar hero? WARNING: this will be pretty difficult for you!

Fun game, but be prepared lmfao.

For a game this old, it's still pretty good.

One of the best puzzle games hands down.

If you've never played the portal series you should.

Amazing Mod!
But a quick warning: Don't play this unless you're already well versed in portal mechanics. I'm not sure how many of my solutions were cheese or real, but the game becomes a mess to conceptualize solutions.

If you are looking for a quick-ish playthrough of intense puzzles I definitely recommend this mod. If you want a portal puzzle that's a little less hard and a bit longer go check out Portal Stories: Mel.

Overall, this is a mod I've been waiting a while for and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Great job to the team and I hope more portal mods will be released in the future :D.

Buy this game during a sale, otherwise I'd recommend against it.

The game's puzzle base is fairly fun, but I wish more was done with it, and the environment and atmosphere seem to try to mimic Portal, but fails to really capture the player compared to it. The story had a good thing running for it, but it seemed extremely forced and tried much too hard to be "deep" in my opinion. The story is also almost always conveyed using the secret rooms, which makes the story jagged if you need to return to a certain point to finish a secret.

I've played a lot of Portal, so in total the game took me around 4 hours to beat, which is a pretty short amount of time. The game's puzzles were pretty easy, but if you're new to the 3D puzzle platformer, some of the puzzles might not be as intuitive.

It's a fun game, but buy it when it's on sale. I don't find it to be worth it's full price.
