As a Dynasty Warriors game, it lacks variety. You are only allowed to play as 1 character. We aren't going to count the roughly 1 minute you can "change character" because you can only really do it once per mission.

Now this is a more story-driven Dynasty Warriors, which is okay, but the characters are pretty annoying. Every single character in the game is just enamored by the protagonist and they all say the same stuff. "We must be tied together by fate," and "I feel like when I'm with you everything is better", etc. literally every character in the game tells you this at some point or another, sometimes it's multiple times and you have to hear it over and over. Another gripe I have with the game is the amount of people who need to talk to you at the end of every main story mission. On average there are around 5-11 people that you need to talk to and honestly, that would be okay if they all didn't just regurgitate the same lines as every other character. So it has the problem of just you having to go through so much dialogue and barely any combat. The overall main story is pretty solid, and simple, but in a good way.

The combat is fluid, feels like Dynasty Warriors. It provides you with a decent array of weapons to use in the game. Officers are a "threat" again and they brought back duels which is great. The skills you unlock throughout the game feel pretty good and fluid outside of a few, but it's subjective. The tactics you unlock as you progress in the game are fun to use and strong, especially if you get dramatic success on the ones that you're able to.

Overall, I'd say this is a good start to bringing Dynasty Warriors as a franchise back. The visuals, combat, and other elements are all great steps in the right direction to revive the series. The only thing this game is truly missing for me is the boatload of characters that you could play as in previous titles, I understand why this one isn't that way, but I hope that future games continue to do so, maybe with a story-driven title like this one, every other game or so.

Game Good!!!

If you like Strategy games this is the perfect franchise for it. Now I will say, the base game is okay, not the greatest IMO because the Realms of Chaos campaign mechanic isn't that fun. It's tedious and depending on the faction you are playing you can conquer basically the whole map before you can actually win the campaign. If you have the Champions of Chaos DLC the Realms of Chaos campaign is good, since you operate on a different mechanic that feels much better.

Let's get into the juice of the game. The game is 100% at it's best when you own all 3 games because it will give you access to the Immortal Empires campaign which combines all the maps from the previous games into 1 BIG map with all of the previous factions on it. You don't have any gimmicks to worry about. It's just conquer the map with a few objectives depending on your faction. It's a giant sandbox where you'll have roughly 86 different Legendary Lords to play, each with different starts, abilities, buffs, etc. Also, you don't need to own all 3 of the games to play IE (Immortal Empires), if you have a friend that owns all 3 games you can play it with him. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO USE THE STUFF YOU OWN. So if you only have the 3rd game you can only use factions from the 3rd game. If you own the 2nd and 3rd game you can use the respective factions and DLC that you own.

You can have up to 8 player campaigns that you can do entirely coop or however you want. You want to have to have an alliance with someone and go to war with someone else go for it. You all also get to have your turns at the same time which is a great feature, so you aren't stuck waiting for someone else to do their turn while you just sit there twiddling your thumbs. You can now get into situations where maybe the want to attack your army and they start walking towards your lord, you can walk your lord away.

There is a lot of variety in the units and the battles are one of the biggest highlights of the game for me personally. The campaign map is like Civilization, but when you clash with another army or whatever it becomes more of an RTS where you control your units. It's honestly so much fun!

I give the game a 6/10 with no DLC's or mods with just the base campaign. With mods, you can get rid of the Realms of Chaos mechanic which adds more replayability to the game because you can focus on more that just the dumb portals. Don't get me wrong Realms of Chaos is good for 1 playthrough after that it's tedious. With access to Immortal Empires the game shoots up to a 9/10 for me. As it offers a ton of variety that can make the game feel fresh with all the different races and factions to choose from.

Game is awful, wouldn't play the game again even if Kylie Jenner sucked me off.
