as of 2/2/2023, two strikes i think is good from far but far from good
the visual style, absolutely amazing, probably one of the best i've ever actually seen
but once i actually played it........

not to say this is a "bad" game, but it's just not satisfying to me. additionally, there's a lot of weird game design quirks and technical difficulties that i really... don't understand? you can't pause a duel for example or for a better example theres no audio settings or resolution settings (really no settings besides a flashing lights toggle) also sometimes controls feel unresponsive

maybe this kind of fighter on a gameplay level isnt for me and that's okay, i recommend it anyway because i love the art so much and the potential is there. can't wait to see this rounded out in the future! tomoe best girl!

you've had the SSX games, you've had Riders Republic, you've had STEEP, you've had Amped
now in the ever lively market of snowboarding games is one that i think delivers unlike most

it feels a bit like Forza Horizon where you can just do whatever you want in a contained open-world with a story that if you follow, unlocks more of the map and also more gear to play with. it's very Skate-like in that regard especially the story, but don't let the playful / lighthearted story fool you. the game's mechanics are easy to pick up, but intensely hard to master. there are times where i'll be stuck on a mission for an hour because i'm not getting enough spin (skill issue) or not enough air (also skill issue) but what's amazing is that the same gamer in me can turn right around and do some crazy cork 360 onto a rail and get a clip.
an added benefit of this game is it's multiplayer and i'm going to be 100% honest; STEEP had me at Ubisoft, RR had me at Epic Games, why can't we just have the multiplayer on Steam? Shredders knocks it out of the park because of it's simplicity, there's no DLC, there's no 3rd party launcher, everything is unlockable in game and self contained, and the multiplayer is satisfying without having too many issues. it does the Forza Horizon thing where even if you get disconnected, there's no loading screen to tell you, it's seamless and i don't even notice it half the time.

Shredders is a game that feels like a game, and not an attempt at one. Pick it up.
As sad as that is to say in 2023, it's important because this game truly hearkens back to simpler times while ALSO innovating and excelling in the medium of videogames.

this game has a way of sucking you into the management, it's almost a Sims-like trance
there's a lot of depth to this game, so much so, i have 55 hours at the time of writing and i have only explored 1/4 of the game + i haven't even touched mods
the gameplay value of this game is probably 4x the amount you're buying it for right now in early access
now, that being said:

i feel like as amazing this game is, it's insane depth, detail, and what everything it covers spreads itself a bit thin as far as progression is concerned
on easy, with one day a month, with 4 founders, i even seem to hit a wall (either by losing money / reputation because i couldn't keep up on the fastest speed or really just getting bored)
the beginning stages of your company's life isn't really making your own software (90% contract work) and the later stages are a slog because you want to aim to be self-sustainable by not relying on publishers but it's very time consuming to do so (marketing takes too long unless you have a dedicated marketing team and micromanaging each team is not very fun)
i haven't explored all the gameplay features so i could easily be missing that one setting or one technique that makes this all entirely a-ok again, but i really wish there was more autonomy with teams / employees.
another thing imo is how punishing this game is if you don't do bonds or stocks, you could lose an entire PLAYTHROUGH worth if you don't manually save often with how the autosaves are handled (i wish they would make multiple autosaves states so that you could pick the one before messing up), which really demotivates me to play more

this game is one of the best management games i've ever played and i only hope it gets better, may update my review if anything fixes or i have a change in experience

EDIT: after figuring out the project management tab i can say confidently that my experience has been enhanced but i'm still hitting that brick wall somewhere in terms of progression. this game i think suffers a lot from feature creep.

originally i had played this game during Steam's Next Fest and was entranced by the original demo. otaku engine has a lot of potential seeing as how there's really no sort of game that plays with the idea of "virtual space art gallery" besides the condo system in Tower Unite and even in that game it's really not that user-friendly as this game is.

i cannot recommend this enough, i really am looking forward to the future of otaku engine and seeing the amazing galleries people make.
even on release day, this is stellar and i haven't had any bugs or crashes or anything.

so i just had to post a review after i had finished the campaign and unlocked a good portion of what i wanted:

this game is really amazing and i was very surprised initially hearing about it! i hadn't heard anything about this despite being a big Girls und Panzer fan and in general just looking for good singleplayer tank games. Panzer Knights fits that particular niche for a history, anime, and tank fan. which, by the way, is severely lacking despite GuP being as big and loved as it is. Upotte!! was the blueprint to Girls Frontline, so why can't we have more inspired projects of the same theme or idea?

a lot of people will compare this to GuP's Dream Tank Match but it's worth noting that both games are different in their own ways with different goals in mind. though, of course, there are A LOT of similarities. so i WOULD recommend this to anyone who thinks this is Dream Tank Match but for PC. you can even download a mod from workshop for GuP portraits (which big props to the devs for workshop support!! that will increase the lifespan of this game tenfold for a lot of people, including me!). one of the biggest differences for me is the tone of Panzer Knights vs. Dream Tank Match, which i absolutely love how more gritty and serious it is in this game (reminds me of Saga of Pravda). also the female characters are cute and i'm glad that they have males just in case you want to play as them. the art is fantastic, no complaints, i would even go as far as to say i loved each portrait and also the loading screen images are fantastic to look at too.

now my complaints are short but i think it's worth mentioning that this game runs ROUGH, especially if you have an older gaming PC or a desktop. i'm fairly sure it's the optimization with environment since they put animated grass, breakable objects like trees, buildings, and more. these things were a real nice touch but i did find myself getting stuck on unbreakable rocks a few times. AI is a complaint i saw people talking about, I found them to be impressive at best, useless at worst. a lot of missions, especially the later ones, i probably had maybe one AI unit left near the end. though, sometimes i would station them at checkpoints to fight and they'd actually protect it or in other cases: even inadvertently complete objectives for me. characters seem well designed though I wish there was more to the game to facilitate more growth so i could like them even more! it could be cool for this game to get some sort of spinoff / sequel / dlc (afrika campaign could be interesting?) game mechanics are interesting and have some depth to it, not really any complaints on that front, though smoke screens i found to be useless? (i'll try to find a use for it later...)

now, the BIGGEST complaint i have is PROGRESSION. they start you off with light tanks and move down to the heavy tanks. which i have a bit of a problem with because the balance is weird and using the starting tanks is like playing on a harder difficulty (despite the 38 being a workhorse for the german army early war but in this you can't use secondary guns like machine guns so it doesn't really matter) also some tanks i feel are a bit misrepresented like i didn't really see myself using the Panthers at all, and not even the Hetzer because they were really not worth the currency. the DLC sort of ruins this game, because i really just clutched the Pershing until the end where I got the Tiger 2. i wish there was more to the other tanks to allow me to enjoy them, but they're relatively all similar to each other stat-wise. for a game that's ABOUT tanks the charm of said tanks are a bit lost on me, but i had fun nonetheless.
overall, i really hope this game gets more to it in the form of updates or a sequel or dlc. i'm in love and i want to see more.
mia best girl and tiger 2 best tank. panzer vor!

awesome puzzle game, very much inspired by resident evil 4's inventory / attache case system

quick fun, sometimes a thinker
though i wish this game had more depth to it for replay value, maybe modding or a puzzle designer?

other than that, really simple and honestly amazing that no one's thought of doing this before

pretty amazing though there's a lot i didn't really like about the story or the setting, the mechanics are awesome and it was fun playing. genuinely one of the better RE's and uniquely sticks out from the other games. here are some things i did not like:

the daughters being fairly throwaway
guns being disposable (you get better ones anyway, do NOT upgrade the starting shotgun or pistol but clutch F2, F2 is life)
the locals having american accents despite being in a remote eastern european village
no choice to side with heisenberg even for a little while
random tie ins with the franchise (BSAA twist, Ozwell Spencer, RE4 Merchant namedrop, etc. was a bit out of nowhere, wouldn't be surprised if George Trevor designs was copied for the castle)
the amount of marketing for Lady D yet she's just another boss (CAPCOM going as far as releasing an official FOOT SIZE?)
normal is very easy and i managed to beat it in under 8 hours
puzzles are so simple they're forgettable

overall though this game is insanely good and i can tell CAPCOM is passionate about their games and progressing the RE franchise further into a blend of survival horror and action but not going too far with the action. really awesome.

resident evil 7 is almost a loveletter to shinji mikami seeing as how one of his favorite films is "the texas chainsaw massacre" and is in my opinion, one of the better RE games

i think the only thing that really makes it fall short from some of the better games in the series is in a lot of it's innovations
they're fairly raw given that they experimented with it for the first time in the series and it shows in some areas
however, it is this innovation that really brought the series back from the brink of disaster from the almost franchise crushing: RE6, Operation Raccoon City, and Umbrella Corps

imo, definitely worth picking up even if you're not a fan of RE
the mechanics are a bit slow and messy sometimes but this is a good game through and through!

so it's been 10 years since this was originally panned by critics and fans alike, here's a review in 2022:

RE6 feels like playing one of the many CGI movies such as RE Vendetta so make of that what you will.
this may be better with a co-op partner, maybe a blast, unfortunately i played with AI.
it's not entirely a BAD game, there are worse out there but I think for a Resident Evil game, this is bad:

-the UI is confusing and isn't visually appealing
-story / canon completely scrambling to make any sort of sense (you only really start understanding the plot in the last bit of the game)
-overstays it's welcome and pads out the runtime through unnecessary obstacles or basic puzzles to remind you that you're playing an RE game
-graphics are a bit bad for 2012 (also the year of hitman absolution for comparison of graphics)
-enemy types and bosses were the worst they've ever been in this one imo, boring and uninspiring

i did enjoy riffing along with the game because of it's most outrageous plot, but without that, this would've been even more of a slog to play, that is good:

-runs amazingly after install, no crashes no bugs no anything
-soundtrack wasn't awful, Jake's ending credits song I may actually listen to outside of this game
-sherry is cute
-amazing backdrops for RE, a lot of the Chinese scenery could actually be amazing to come back to
-COACH BABY!!!
-the extra modes such as Mercenaries is among the best in the series
-stun rod

overall, a meh entry to the series that could've been better if it wasn't so ambitious.
enjoyable but you have to be patient with it.
