One of the first games in a long time where I completed the story in two sittings. A very simple control scheme with an interesting story. For $5 you get around 5 hours of a pretty fun simulator game. Highly recommended.

Easily one of the worst games of 2018. Maybe even the worst game. The combat is horrendous. The story is just confusing and somehow boring and the game doesn't look good at all.

It takes the premise of having a deaf character and literally does nothing with it other than muting the sound. It adds absolutely nothing, hell it even takes away from the game because you have absolutely no idea what's going on. Which would be fine if it was a 'fish out of water' kind of story. The issue is, is that the character you play can understand what others are saying, but the player cannot. So all this results in are 10-15 minutes cutscenes with JUST DIALOGUE that you have no idea what is being said. You can make out some of the live action but the animation on the CG cutscenes is too poor to make any guess as to what they're saying.

Avoid this game no matter what.

Another Great Game By Supergiant

If you're at all familiar with Supergiant's past games, Bastion and Transistor. You know what you're in for with this. Amazing art, Amazing music and some good character writing. If you're down a lot of reading and playing some spiritual basketball, don't hesitate to pick this up.

Gameplay
Spiritual basketball. You control teams of 3 made up from a roster of characters. Each character has a different playstyle allowing the player to really change up how each match is played. Want to be more defensive? Want to just focus on rushing down on your opponent? Both viable options. As you win matches your characters level up and you are able to choose how to spec them. Allowing even more strategy. There is also an item system, boosting certain stats. Although this can be avoided if you don't want to mess with it. The gameplay is fast and very fun. Mouse and Keyboard controls are a bit bad in my opinon. I would suggest using a controller.

Story
You are a Reader, able to see things that others aren't. You are recruited by the Nightwings to help them through the "Rites". Which are matches where two teams fight for the favor of the scribes. Gaining enough favor will allow you and your friends to leave the Downside, where you were all banished for different crimes.

The character writing and development is great. Every character in your ranks has some great interactions and story. Even the enemy team leaders have character arcs. Although this is all through text, so if you don't enjoy reading. You might struggle with the story mode.

I also found the payoff of the ending to be very lackluster and not very enjoyable. Not going to go into spoilers but it really didn't do anything for me and was really left with a, "That's it?" feeling.

Presentation
Supergiant never fails to make an interesting world. Filled with awesome world and character designs. The art paired with the amazing original soundtrack makes for a great treat. Extremely easy to get lost in the world, wanting to find as much information about it as possible.

Pros

  • Great art and Music
  • Great Writing
  • Fast and Fun Gameplay
  • Lots of strategy, Allowing you to play how you want.
  • Took about 11 hours to beat

Cons

  • Mouse and Keyboard controls are clunky
  • Lots of click through dialogue(Not a con for some, but I can see some people thinking its boring)
  • Towards the end of the game, some characters get really overpowered, making the game extremely easy

If you want a fun "sports" game, with great presentation and good writing. Don't hesitate on picking this up.

Early Access Review
I think this is a good base for something that could be really awesome. The game has very impressive graphics and effects. Water looks amazing. The dinosaurs I've come across have looked pretty decent, the models are very well done but the animations can be a bit janky.

Its difficult to talk about the game further than the surface because there isn't a whole lot here just yet. The crafting system is very bare bones. You can pick up ihighlighted items from the ground. Sometimes. The game will just not let you pick up items sometimes. The game also doesn't really point you in a direction other than, "Explore, find items and don't get eaten."

There is a large area to explore with some very impressive visuals, but it does feel pretty empty in the animal/creature department. It doesn't feel very "alive". Could just be my bad luck but encounters with dinosaurs have been a bit rare. But, there are some very interesting things to find in this game. Things that aren't even mentioned in the description. Like getting high on mushroom spores and then being chased by the skeleton of a T-Rex. I think this game might have some really cool secrets that I'm excited to see people find.

I feel like I wouldn't recommend the game normally. The fact that the price is so affordable is a big factor though. So if you're looking for a game to explore in that has some dinosaurs and interesting secrets. I would give this game a try. Here is some gameplay with no commentary if you would like to see some.

TLDR

Pros:
  • Game is beautiful
  • Large area to explore and dinosaurs to run away from
  • Some extremely interesting secrets that honestly surprised me
  • Price is very reasonable

Cons:
  • Performance isn't great. Averaging around 30 - 40 FPS
  • There really isn't a goal/direction to aim for other than survive
  • The UI/HUD is not very good. Buttons aren't explained(accidentally ate a mushroom and died)

Path of War is a phone game brought onto PC. It's a lot of waiting around for troops and buildings to be built/upgraded but don't worry cause you can use real life money to speed it up! You upgrade your base, do a few missions and then move on. The missions themselves are pretty boring as well. You're just placing down troops in a column and they walk forward attacking. That's all. Some troops are better against certain enemies and thats all the strategy there is.

It is just not very fun. Here is some gameplay if you want to see.

Played through the first episode perfectly fine. It's an interesting story that focuses much more on Bruce Wayne than Batman. If you're looking for a more action oriented game. This iisn't for you. If you like the other Telltale games. You'll like this one a lot.

I have enjoyed every Resident Evil game I have played. I even got some fun out of 6 and Operation: Raccoon City. This game however is not worth $30. Especially $30 along with an "upgrade pack"(that includes weapons) and cosmetic DLC on release.

Pros:
- It looks pretty good.
- Has maps from previous games. Having them in a newer game is pretty cool
- Zombie heads popping off is really satisfying

Cons:
- Multiplayer Matches take forever to find
- Matches often crash on loading
- FOV is terrible. Being stuck to the shoulder is pretty awful and makes everything hard to see.
- Movement feels really clunky.
- Mouse and Keyboard control is terrible
- While playing with a controller. The mouse arrow constantly anchors to the middle of the screen
- Story mode/Single player is just doing short objectives in the maps
- 3 v 3 just feels like a small ammount in players in a shooter. Especially when people frequently drop out

The game just does not have enough content for $30. And what little content there is... Just isn't very good.

I know I only have about 30 minutes played on this account. But I played a good hour or two while at a friends house.

So what is this game? Well. You start by choosing an animal that represents you. A sardine... A salmon... Or the mighty crab. You go around with your squad of fish, shooting lazers at your enemies and taking over their reefs. When you kill enemies you gain different types of materials that you can use to breed different types of animals for your group. Each type have different stats and weapons, so theres a reason to try out different combinations of creatures.

It's a fun silly game. Reminds me a lot of Tokyo Jungle but in the sea. The complaints I do have though is that, since the game is REALLY Japanese. Some of the translations are bad and the controller support isn't great. The performance of the game also seems pretty poor with how basic of a game it is. Other than that. Really fun and simple game.

This is a Non VR review!

At this point I have beaten the game and I'm just kind of mixed about it. On one hand the game is absolutely beautiful. Moving around the debris field of a crumbling space station while looking down at Earth is simply amazing looking. The animations of Alex reaching out at items, turning them around and just moving around the airlock all look fantastic. The lighting system in the game is amazing as well. Past the visuals however, I found the game to be pretty boring and empty feeling.

The gameplay consists of you traversing an extremely damaged space station in an EVA suit. Since it's zero-G you use thrusters and momentum to move you throughout the station. Your thrusters are powered by the Oxygen system of the suit, which you also need to... Y'know. Breathe. So throughout the ENTIRE game you have to manage your oxygen levels by constantly finding oxygen containers/stations. It can be a bit tedious but these containers/stations basically lay out the way you're supposed to go for the next objective so they are more than just life saving air. But at the same time the Oxygen meter always makes you feel rushed so you can't look at the amazing visuals.

While moving through you'll find computers, audio logs and radio calls that fill in the story of what happened to the station and the interactions between characters. Even with these logs I never felt any profound connection to any of the characters. Which makes the entire game feel lifeless. Alex never talks other than a literal handful of words through the game, even though she's constantly in contact with base command trying to get her back home, even after fixing the relay that is supposed to allow her to talk to them.

For a game having such amazing visuals, I found the soundtrack and sound in general to just be pretty poor. I had a lot of popping in my speakers while playing throughout that I have never had before. At a few points in the game songs will just come out of nowhere. While these are okay for a minute or two, I had one song loop a 10-15 second loop for 30 minutes until I restarted the checkpoint. It really wore me down.

The one thing I was REALLY looking forward to was the quote I saw floating around a lot. "It's like being an astronaut!" It isn't at all though. You move from room to room pushing a button at a terminal that says, "Do you want to repair?" and it repairs itself. I was really looking forward to using some tools or something like that. But you just use a keyboard so it makes me wonder why Alex is even needed if it can all be fixed with a signal.

The game mainly consists of,

1. Find colored disc
2. Follow objective marker to another terminal/computer
3. Gather oxygen and intel as you move
4. Reach computer and put disc in or press button to upgrade suit
5. Repeat

Pros:
  • Amazing visuals
  • The movement of the EVA suit is fun but slightly clunky in spots
  • Really great animation

Cons:
  • Short, I completed it in just over 3 hours and don't really feel the need to play it again.
  • Didn't care about the characters
  • Gameplay consists of just going to terminals and pressing a button
  • Oxygen meter forces you to feel rushed when you want to just look at how amazing the game is
  • Does NOT feel like being an astronaut
