Phenomenal game, did as much of the side content I could (all stroll n patrols, akame request, s ranks in coliseum, amons, etc.). Still sad at the loss of Y5 Bounding Throws, but combat still felt fluid. I maxed all my stats and skills before the end with the best gear available so even on the hardest difficulty it was quite easy, don't think any boss gave me any particular trouble.

The story was also engaging, and towards the end it started to hit pretty hard. Definitely worth playing, though if you plan on playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon (A.K.A. Yakuza 7), play this game after as it kind of spoils the events despite mostly taking place before the events of that game.

Holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ peak.

Overall, gameplay is hit or miss, probably the weakest Dragon Engine title in that sense, but this story does not hold back. I love the new characters as well, and I'll miss them as I assume I won't really be seeing most if any of them going forward. All in all, a phenomenal ending to Kiryu's saga.

Fun game with some questionable decisions from developers here and there. Almost everyone who plays this game is miserable has made it their goal to make it as miserable of an experience as possible for everyone else. If you aren't running anti-slug + anti-tunnel every game as survivor you're actively shooting yourself in the foot, and it's still awful to play when you are running it.

Killer is the only way I can seem to consistently have fun, and it's because I have more control over the game and will be nice/mess around with the survivor(s) if the situation leads to it.

People also get upset at you if you engage in the game's base mechanics. I genuinely would rather go back to playing League of Legends at times.

Overall, decent-to-fun experience, but the people who play it make it one of the worse multiplayer experiences you could choose to play. Also a good amount of killers just outright take away core gameplay mechanics from survivors. Lol

This franchise going to turn-based combat was a bit jarring at first, but it's done fairly well. Other than that, it's typical Yakuza madness, turned up a bit in some spots. Ichiban is a great protagonist, welcome back Nishiki.

On a more serious note, this game's story is what I consider to be the best in the franchise so far, having not finished 5, and having not played 6, Ishin, Gaiden, or Infinite Wealth as of yet. I don't think I've gotten as emotional playing any other game. Amazing work, RGG Studio.

This is like Judgment except if you made the gameplay better. Yagami teaching high school girls how to do Fortnite dances was essential to the plot. Kaito files is also fun, I miss Beast Style.

Amazing game, shame it gets overshadowed by the cooler Judgment, Lost Judgment.

Don't say Yagami backwards, though.

Still working through this game, heard this one apparently burnt out a lot of people but I'm not feeling it yet. Combat feels really good, and Kiryu being able to do bounding throws without any limitation is... kind of OP? But I love it. Being a taxi driver is neat, wish they let us do more of that but it seems there isn't much content there. I really enjoyed Part 2, and I'm on Part 3 right now.

Edit: Finished the game, Shinada is pretty awesome, though Kiryu by and far was my favorite gameplay wise. Towards the end I felt like I might've been burning out a bit so I just put my head down and finished the game, but it was still really good. Definitely the longest game by quite a bit as well.

Enjoyable game, felt lacking in some parts but I was properly engaged throughout.

Essence of Bell Ringing.

This game has some awful enemy balancing. Like, really bad. A certain boss kicked my butt so hard, juggling me against walls like I'm playing Tekken, while I couldn't do any damage to him, so I had to modify the game to play in Easy mode and just cruised through the rest. Oh, and that fight made me so salty I didn't touch this franchise for over a year. Enemies also block a ton and you get hit from all sides simultaneously, making it difficult to do much. Most certainly a skill issue on my end to some extent, but this game was a chore to play through.

I now realize I never reviewed this title. It's fun, uses the Dragon Engine which is fun to mess with, leveling is straight forward, and the story is frankly ridiculous and the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane one in the mainline series that I've experienced so far. My only gripe is that the combat doesn't feel as in depth/refined as titles such as 0, 4, and 5, but that's to be expected. Judgment and especially Lost Judgment really show what can be done with the combat.
