This is actually an extremely interesting concept for a fighting game, and I'm honestly surprised that this hasn't been done before (it probably has, but this is the only instance of it that I have seen personally). Despite only having 3 characters, they're all quite diverse and unique. Animation wise, Leon and Nicholas are pretty similar, but they have a sort of Ryu/Ken dynamic where the attacks and specials are similar in appearance, but they function quite differently. Rat is definitely the highlight for me. His animations are pretty funny. The way combos work is very interesting and pretty unique for this genre. The closest thing I can compare it to is Smash Bros since both games have a mechanic where combos can be escaped by tilting the stick in certain directions. Honestly, give this game some time in the oven with frequent updates, and I think it could see at least about as much success as other indie fighter like Slap City and Punch Planet.

This is like the halfway point between TF2 and Rainbow Six: Siege. Playing this game helps me forget how bad I am at both.

I'll start this review off by saying that, while I do still like the game as a whole, I do not like the 06/26/23 patch. I think it's dumb, unnecessary, and when looking at what specifically was changed and the reason given for those changes, it's clear to see that the patch doesn't even accomplish what it set out to do.

Now with that being said, if you're someone who is considering buying the game and you're curious about the patch and what all was changed/removed, here is my advice. DON'T go to Reddit, DON'T go to Twitter, and DON'T read the hate reviews (nothing against the people leaving negative reviews, like I said, I dislike the patch just the same as you, but most of y'all are actually just resorting to name calling or exaggerating/misrepresenting the situation). If you truly want to learn about the situation with as little bias as possible do the following:

Of course, feel free to do whatever research or investigation you want beyond that, but the content within the links above is, in my opinion, essential for getting the most objective grasp and understanding of this controversy.

Now, with all of that stuff out of the way, let's answer the question you're probably the most concerned about: Is the game fun?

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Yes, but if you've never played a fighting game before in your life, or if you have very little fighting game knowledge/experience, getting into this game is going to be ROUGH. Honestly, I find it kind of weird how pretty much none of the other reviews (even the more serious ones) really talk about just how daunting and frustrating this game can be for a beginner. This is one of the only fighting games I have played where re-stand combos are commonplace in the combo TRIALS. And then on top of the difficulty of learning and getting used to this game's combo structure, you also add on the fact that making a mistake in this game and getting hit can often lead to you just straight up dying, or at the very least, eating a combo that deletes like >70% of your health. And then on top of THAT, you add on the fact that this game has some of the filthiest, most diabolical mix-ups, knowledge checks, and setups in all of fighting games. In fact, if you just read the last few sentences and thought to yourself "What the hell is a mix-up?" or "Wtf is a re-stand?", I would genuinely suggest that you refrain from buying this game UNLESS you have a friend to play with. Otherwise you are in for a VERY rude awakening when you play this game online. Speaking of which, the rollback netcode is great and, as many people have said time and time again, honestly some of the best in the genre.

Other than that, I think the character designs are great, the animations are great, the music is AMAZING, and the character move sets and play styles are very cool and varied. And honestly, despite the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ patch, I do still enjoy this game.

Gud game. Watch out for rapier stab spammers tho.

Edit: Only thing keeping this game from being a 10/10 is the fact that it has mimics. Please for the love of god stop putting mimics in video games, I hate them with a burning passion and I think society would stand to benefit greatly if all mimics in all games were just removed.

Iz good gaym. Trailer is extremely inacurrate tho. It should go like this:
1) Make Enemies (for no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason)
2) Die
3) Repeat steps 1-2 at least 3 more times, or until player gets lucky enough to live long enough to actually BREATHE
4) Build walls
5) Hide like a little baby in your 2x4 for like 3 nights until you actually man up and go outside
6) Get rekt by the gear guy that you didn't know was camping your base the WHOLE TIME
7) Rage Quit
8) Uninstall
9) Re-install
10) Repeat




Nah but really tho, izza pretty good game once you get past the wave of people that want you dead for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
