This is one of those great games that gets ruined because the devs try to cater to the very small amount of players who take it way to serious for what it is and want locked/independent servers and game changes. It use to be a free to play game and you unlocked the skins through leveling up, the community was chill and fun. Slowly it turned into only being able to find a match through discord in private games instead of matchmaking, and eventually the devs locked it in a closed beta behind a paywall. Shameful

If you have a keen interest for the civil war, its battles and the history, this is a game i'd recommend adding to your collection.
I purchased this game on sale ($30) around the 1.1 patch and it has come such a long way.
This game is like a mix of Total war and Hearts of Iron but set in the American Civil War

Positives:
+ Most in-depth Civil War game out there
+ Monthly updates/patches
+ Army builder/composition is great (Generals,Officers, Weapons etc)
+ Research & Policy trees
+ Commander avatars
+ Historical battles
+ Variety of settings for campaign
(historical/random, Fog of war, feuds, interventions, delayed orders, bonuses etc)
+ Mod support

Negatives:
- Map selection is small/repetitive
- AI still has some flaws
- Poor optimization

Get it while its on sale! If you love management style games its a no brainer.

Very engaging and in depth game.
I played 17 hours the first 2 days and payed the normal $15 so i would highly recommend if on sale at all.

Multiple updates have polished and smoothed over the optimization for this game immensely! The gameplay mechanics gradually get better with every update. Great devs great community, One of a kind game.

- Was executed via firing squad
- Charged to my death with 120 other comrades
- Had a bayonet showdown in Egypt
- Lanced Napoleon off his horse
- Assaulted Waterloo
- Got crushed by a falling building
- Was a redcoat AND a kraut :D
- Played the drums, flute and bagpipes in a killer band
- Got trampled by a horse
- FOR THE KAISER!!!!

Very problem solving & visually aesthetic focused.
This game is very well done and is almost scary at times with things you encounter in the forrest.
Good game to just pass time by or work your mind out.

The Total War Series is my most beloved gaming title on the PC, and this game was a huge step forward for the series at the time of its release.
Napoleon: Total War touches up on features from Empire:Total War but also adds more of a in depth look into the combat of the Napoleonic Wars Era.
I'd say this game has by far the best depiction of musket and line infantry combat on a large scale.
You can have literally control thousands of troops and depending on how you win or lose battles, the generals commanding those troops will gain traits and retainers. Coming from Shogun 2 however, this feature lacks to me only because they are auto asissigned traits, where as in Shogun 2 and Rome 2 you can choose the type of traits, behavior and entourage you want your generals to have.
This game (like Empire in my opinion) focuses more heavily on the combat as opposed to being focused on building up cities, having a repuation to keep up with or decisions to be made based on your actions.
The AI in Napoleon is up to par but is still un-polished and buggy in some areas,
you also have to remember this is a relativly old game
(4 new total war games have been released since this game)
SINGLE PLAYER & CAMPAIGN-
The campaign is fun being very much different pending on the battle and campaign difficulty you choose and has much replay value, on top of that there is plenty of DLC to download/buy.
In total there are 4 diffrent campaigns to play (Europe, Spain, Italy and Egypt)
You can play these in single player or multiplayer ether being enemies or coop or both throughout
There are a huge variety of units to choose from in this game, if you have the right technology of course. You will notice that alot of the units look the same with similar uniforms and hats, but that is how it was in the time period, again i highly recommend the DLC's because you will acquire over 30 + more units and it will help very much in both single and multiplayer.
MULTIPLAYER-
For me this game is all about the multiplayer. There is a ranking system which is what keeps me playing. Although you will come across lots of slight or big lag, people quitting and people lagging out,
I truly wish they would re master this game. You have to repeat rules in lobby constantly and you can't restrict units to certain rules you want to apply, so new players or trolls choose units not allowed.
You will get frustrated if you care about rank, but if you are playing for fun there is plenty to do :).
Siege, Naval, Land And Historical battles are available for both single and multiplayer.

Pros+
-Stellar graphics for a 2010 title
-Awesome Single Player & Multiplayer
-Unit Variety
-Historical Accuracy & Realism
-Runs on High - Ultra graphics smoothly on low end PC's
-High Replay Value

Cons-
-Multiplayer games crash fairly often and lag, needs to be remastered 0:)
-Some bugs when it comes to garrisoning in houses and firing on certain positions (Hills, Corners etc)
-Outdated AI

A good friend of mine introduced me to the Total War Series about 5 years ago, the first one i played being Rome.
After that i was hooked and well on my own playing and buying the other games.
When i first downloaded Shogun 2 i was in all honesty very skeptical due to the time period and not being nearly as familiar with it such as Rome or Empire. But this is by far one of the best if not THEE best game in the series.
The thing that made me drawn in and attached to this game more then the others were the traits you can choose for your generals and the tech trees. The family tree is also in this game which is a huge plus for me. The combat is smooth and ambient. The sieges are the best in this game in my opinion (Although i heard Attilas is best but have not played it)
The units are all unique and there are many to choose from, this game has at least 2,000+ hours in replay value.

Most underrated game when it comes to the FPS genre and the competitive scene potential.
Awesome community, Amazing game and met alot of great friends over the 4 years this games been out.
If you like to run and gun, capture objectives or snipe enemies from 100 yards off, then you will without doubt enjoy :)
Insurgency offers plenty of roles to play depending on your style and strengths you bring to specific loadouts but it also forces you to adapt to new tactics and work together with your team to win the game.

Pros:
-Weapon variety and customization. 34 Weapons & 25 Attachments
-Outstanding voice dialouge, combat ambience and visual aesthetics (Even for the source engine)
-5 Multiplayer gamemodes, 4 Multiplayer Coop gamemodes and 16 maps featuring both day and night times
-Enemy AI is superb and smart, coop is very fun to play with friends and trying to get the achievements
-Very active community mixed with competive & casual players
-Thousands of mods on the Steam Workshop for weapons, textures and sounds

Cons:
-Ghost walls/ledges are everywhere in very little places on certain maps, you will rarely run into these but when you do
while trying to get away from death and get stuck it is frustrating.
-Prone hitboxes are a huge issue sometimes and won't register shots.
-No more patches due to NWI moving on to Day of Infamy and developing Insurgency:Sandstorm
ThIS has led to a huge increase in hackers as of the past year, but most servers/admins are quick to ban them :)
