Very good incremental "idle" game without the idle part!

This game feels like Julian Gollop took a look at the X-COM reboot, said "I can do that better." and then just did exactly that.


It has its flaws, but those are mostly balancing issues (especially the DLCs Legacy of the Ancients, Festering Skies and Corrupted Horizons. I would recommend playing your first games without those.) sprinkled with a few minor UI issues.

No photosensitive seizure warning despite the potential of flashing bright lights of up to 30Hz in a relatively dark game.

No accessibility options for those with impaired hearing. It is important to note that this game very heavily relies on audio cues. While there are certain unlockable so-called "perks" which might help a bit in that regard, you will have to miss out on other, much more powerful perks for that (since you can only have up to 4 perks active in one round). Recent balancing decisions even have introduced a way to negate the aforementioned perks.

Regarding motion sickness: There are no reticles on the side that plays in first person view and the field of view isn't freely adjustable (although there are - again - certain perks which can modify the field of view in first person mode).

If you suffer from emetophobia and/or misophonia please note that there is one character whose whole kit is based around emesis and that there are a lot of breathing sounds, moans and screams in the game.

While obvious cheating has gotten a bit more visible in the past few months the effort from the developer to combat it can only be described as lackluster.

This game also seems to attract misconduct more than most other PvP games and the developer has announced plans to combat part of that by ... removing a few cosmetic items.

If you can see past all of that you might find a game that can entertain you for at least a few hours despite its flaws in balancing (which basically impose a certain playstyle on both sides which will get stale quickly), but I cannot recommend this game to anyone in its current state.
