i wish i could give this something other than a thumbs up or down but the game is so aggressively average i didn't hate the game nor did i feel like my time was wasted it's just so middling it hurts because it could've been so much better

Overall a good dlc but there are some things that are dislike-able about it

Siphoned Forest- a new first stage and 100% the stage i dislike the most. The ramps ascending to the rings of the tree are my main point of contention the monsters always get stuck under the ramps unable to path up them. The map is massive in comparison to the other first stage maps and not in a good way just way too big.

Blind Pest- The name is very misleading it is indeed an annoying pest but they sure aren't blind at all. These lil monsters have what feels like perfect accuracy for something called blind doesn't seem to make much sense. They also seem to have very little spawn weight so you'll almost always encounter a pack of 6 or 7 of them at a time.

Mending elites- going for a reach here but i just dislike these because they can spawn on the first stage because they can make the start of the run just feel awful.

Simulacrum- feels like a punishment for all the people who would farm items in the void fields, when the crab carries the point away it feels like you aren't even supposed to think about the item you get as a reward you just have to grab whatever and go or you'll more than likely just die to the fog. the fog is way more oppressive than ever and then putting all the 3d printers outside of your reach with an item you need forcing you to do a stupid little dance of running in and out waiting for the printer to do its like 3 second animation of taking your item then spitting out your new one it feels extremely over looked that the fog doesn't atleast go away after the portal appears to get some semblance of a build going.

despite all this the game is still fun the new items let you do more interesting builds, sulfur pools aka planet piss is a good stage and the new void boss is cool even with the dumb parkour between the fights.

game fun

It was a great nostalgia trip replaying this after 11 years. Kainé emil weiss and neir's banter bickering and camaraderie is what makes the game for me. I'm glad this underrated game is getting appreciated after all these years.

Definitely not a 40 dollar game 15-20? Sure but really a 20-30 hour game for 40 dollars is absurd.

To start out I am a very big fan of the previous nier game and drakengard series while this game isnt as long as the previously mentioned titles I still think that it is a much better game. I'll list out some pros/cons if your looking for some TL;dr

-Pros-
-Great combat feel
-Believable, Emotionally complex character & villains
-Good controlls with both keyboard/mouse or controller
-Great sound design
-Very memorable soundtrack
-Extremely deep rooted lore
-Chapter select
-26 "endings" (+1 for the dlc)
-Beautiful character design (2Booty)
-Great voice acting (highly reccomend the japanese voice actors over the english one)
-great level design but flawed
-Very fluid animations
-Emils back
-A very deep story once you get into it
-You can get a game over from eating a fish


-Cons-
-with that great combat feel it always leaves you wanting more
-Late game post lvl 50-60 nothing can really compete with you
-Enemies scale by chapter and area not by your level
-early game is bombarded by pov change from third person to top down to side scroll
-Like the combat the story while great ends up leaving you wanting more content to play through
-The flaw for the level design is that theres just not enough
- A lot of people find the optimization for the game is rather poor but i dont have this problem
-Cutscenes occasionally drop below 30 fps
-9s' story while very emotional and very well written playing as him is more of a chore for combat
-the hacking minigame when you play as 9s isnt very fun imo
-the lore is very deep spanning across multiple games, books and even a stage play

Overall 8.5/10
Worth the 60 usd
