One of the best mecha games I have played in a long while, and completely my choice for Game of the Year. I'm not going to go on a rant about how great everything is or how a bunch of the negative comments feel like people who just didn't learn and quit before learning how to beat the boss, but I will say a few things.
Customization is great, you have a bunch of options as you go through the game.
The gameplay feels fantastic, I feel really powerful and its fun to just rip into some of the mooks, but I still have to be careful as those mooks can mess me up.
Boss fights are hard and may take you many many tries, it did for me. But once I figured out my way of fighting them with my build(s), it felt SO good, it was definitely worth the pain.
I love the visuals and the setting, getting to duck and dive between buildings and environments, and the areas feel fairly expansive and open for the speed I can reach.
Take this review with a small grain of salt, as I have only played a few AC games in recent years, so I may not have the experience of older fans who talk about AC4 and 5 almost religiously, (I've only played from AC1-2) but I think so far this is one of the best entries in the series, and others I have talked to who have more experience with the franchise agree.
At the very least give it a proper shot, and don't quit on the first boss. Its hard, but you can figure it out.
