This is easily the best RPG game I've ever played. It's just glorious. Sure, the graphics aren't exactly the prettiest, but there's no game like it in regards to playtime value and exact genre. Think Elder Scrolls mixed with Total War mixed with just raw grit. That is this game. With the addition of the Viking Conquest DLC, on the hardest difficulty, it can easily take upwards of a thousand hours to do one playthrough from start to finish, assuming you don't cheat. Aside from just straight gameplay, it is also fun and relatively easy to experiment with. The game gives you the option to edit your character's stats outside of the game (although I would consider this cheating), and if you edit the module file, you're sure to find some fun. Projectile air resistence, damage and armor modifiers, and all sorts of things can be adjusted to whatever makes the game fun for you.

If The Stanley Parable was a horror VN about a guy who joins a literature club just for the cute girls, who are so interactive that they can even tell if there's more than on person watching you livestream the game, this would be it. It's extremely weeby. It's extremely detailed. It has immense literary value. It's a daylight horror game. Just play it, and check your game files every now and then for easter eggs.

The Stanley Parable is a simple game. There are no skill trees, items, not even non-playable characters. Or are there? As you walk, the narrator says what you are about to do before you actually do it. Once the player realizes this, they have a choice to rebel, or go along with what the narrator is telling the player to do.
When I first played this game, I took it somewhat seriously and actually had a lot of fun with it. I was paranoid in my actions, touching every door, reading every whiteboard, staring at every picture... Okay, I took it more than somewhat seriously, and quite honestly, I don't think that's a bad thing. Some enjoy just cutting to the chase and listening to the narrator, some enjoy being confused, and then, there are some like me, who want to figure out and understand the game.
In short, in the Stanley Parable, you walk around, and you walk through. You think, and you don't think. You listen, and you don't listen. You make rules, and you break rules. But, most importantly, you walk and listen to excellent commentary given by none other than the impeccable Kevan Brighting. He does an amazing job when voicing the narrator, and I would be very surprised if there has ever been a person who has made the narrator yelled and not at least smiled. Overall, this game is a masterpiece, especially considering how much of nothing is in the game. However, that nothing is fulfilling enough to earn a 9/10 rank from me. I think it could use some more story, more options, and more endings, but I suppose that's the point, isn't it? The only reason why it is a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 is because there is simply not enough of the game.

Great game! It is pretty easy, and the flexibility of the solutions to each level makes the timed challenge mode more complex. Also, the "Transmission Recieved" achievement makes it more challenging for the overachievers. I have most of the radios, but I still have a headache or two to defeat still. The advanced test chambers demand better planning, timing, and nerve, and are relatively challenging... until you beat the first couple of levels. From there on, it gets easy until level 18, which puzzled me for a while on the first time playing through on the NORMAL version. The game is not very long. I wish it was longer. It needs to introduce the turrets earlier, if you ask me. If not, it needs to have more turrets and it needs to make removing them more challenging. Even the upgraded version of the turret seems almost harmless if you have a good rame rate. Even the final boss fight was simple and easy to defeat. I do not think difficulty was the point of this game. I think the main point of it was to just introduce players to the idea, concept, story, and format of the Portal series. All of these four things are artfully designed and are quite entertaining. I think the point of this game is to prepare players for the sequel, Portal 2. I have not played the sequel, so I do not know that for sure. If you're looking for just a fun and quick puzzle game that is relatively easy to master, then this is the game for you. If you are looking for more action in your gameplay, this may not be the game for you. I am one of those people, but I still enjoyed, enjoy, and will enjoy this game for a very long time. I think everyone can and should do the same, if they have the right mindset.
