Game itself is wonderful, bar for a few touch-ups chalked to personal preference, but it really tries not to let you enjoy it, what with all the visual glitching and constant crashes.

Now, I ain't one to get worked up easy over something as minor as that, but when it happens with this frequency, crashing in a game where checkpoints make or break an hour's worth of progress rather than being able to save whenever wherever kind'a kills it for me after some time.

Not worth a buy unless on a serious sale, and even then, best embrace that Jedi code 'cause you gonna need the patience.

Normally I tend to be harsh with my review for games whenever I find a niche aspect that rubs me the wrong way but in this case I genuinely stopped playing because I couldn't continue.

Past the first 15 to 20 hours the game goes from a buttery smooth ~200 FPS (1080P) to an absolute nightmarish sub 20 FPS on certain planet surface environments.

My suspicion at first was that this is plain bad optimization, only to hit the web and learn that I was right and worse, it's been an issue since about 4 years ago when peeps first got their hands on this game.

I've tried fiddling with settings both off the top of my head as well as following other people's advice on what made the FPS melt-down more bearable for them, but on a good day I barely managed to scratch 25 frames.

Add to that a certain story mission where a little more maneuvering finesse is required and you get a recipe for disaster.

Love the game and everything about it so far but this just killed it for me and, since this is still an issue this far down the line, I can't be arsed no more.

Nope.

As an entry in the franchise, it's gorgeous and well worth the buy even without a sale, but from a technical standpoint, it's got skyrim-levels of work that still needs to be done.

Crashes, instability, poor optimisation, and a really nasty habit of somehow conjuring all three at once and slapping you in the face with them right when the story/action gets butt-puckering intense. Like.. the Zone itself doesn't want you playing.

I don't care how dirty some of the fights get on higher difficulty, but when the frame drops or stuttering/delay join the fight, I'm out. (stability/optimisation mods help but they're a band-aid at best)

The game itself is worthy of praise even for what content it has beyond just the campaign, but The Emperor is disappointed of that sloppy decision to implement peer-to-peer hosting, so expect lag and connection issues the moment you step out of the campaign or private/offline mode.

HRISTO REDENTOR is this dumb game worth a buy. Mind you, I'm what could pass for your average CoD sweaty nerd so to say this genre ain't for me is an understatement, but MY GOD the level of micro and macro management of everything (even with automation) made me lose a shameful number of nights.

Not gonna bother going into details as to why the game is good, it speaks for itself and I'm sure there's plenty of actual content creators out there singing its praise with facts.

Darksouls with guns, enough said.

Game invites are a bit janky, best stick to looking up and joining a buddy's game on your end, or have them join you.

The game itself ? Absolutely worth its money from what I've seen so far. Love it all. The design choices, the smooth movement and controls, even the story has a certain appeal (not finished yet).

So what's wrong with it ? Boy is this thing a janky little mess when it comes to bugs/glitches. Falling through terrain, getting stuck, certain story NPCs not spawned in for an encounter, and the list goes on. Luckily I was in co-op with a friend and we laughed it off, but that don't change the fact we had to restart the game roughly 6 times in 4 hours.

Very solid and fun foundation despite the cons above, just needs some polishing done, so keep that in mind before you decide if you wanna buy now or wait it out a bit longer.

Update: I am now certain this game is trying to melt my GPU for some reason, and I should probably stop it, if it wasn't this fun.

The quote from Josh Hayes' friend does the game justice, with all its goods and bads. "Shiny lubed up alien body builders killing things."

Add that to the "Ninjas in space" theme DE is pushing and..well, your imagination does the rest.

The game and it's story (when you do get there) is amazing, but it's so drowned in an overflow of systems and feature creep that nobody in their right mind should frown at you for quitting.

For the record, I tried to start playing it 3 times throughout the years before it finally clicked.
