Hyper Light Breaker is an intriguing roguelite with a strong foundation. The gameplay loop is both fun and engaging, offering a solid level of challenge. While the game still has room for improvement, I can see the developers' vision and I'm fully on board with it.

I’ll keep this review short, but I want to mention that I never played the game at launch (I heard it wasn’t great). However, after completing a full playthrough, I can confirm that I didn’t encounter any bugs or major performance issues.

While Lords of the Fallen is a "Souls-like" game that draws heavy inspiration from FromSoftware titles like Dark Souls, I’m happy to say that it offers enough unique and interesting aspects to carve out its own identity.

The Positives:
One of my favorite features is the Lantern system, which allows you to traverse the Umbral Realm. This adds a unique twist and verticality to the exploration.

Additionally, the game offers true co-op, allowing you to complete the game from start to finish with a friend—something I think is fantastic. The game also includes unique modifiers for New Game+, such as enemy and drop randomizers (similar to popular Dark Souls mods). I think this is a great way to add more replay value.

Lastly, the boss fights are great and well-designed.

Now, for some negatives:
The game lacks enemy variety. You’ll often encounter the same enemies repeatedly, to the point where you can defeat a boss and then face that same boss as a regular enemy just five minutes later. I wish the game had at least a 10-20 more enemy types, as this would have made the experience much more enjoyable.

The game also doesn’t provide clear directions or explanations for certain mechanics, which can leave you feeling confused and unsure of how to proceed. To be fair, this may be a matter of personal preference, but I personally would have appreciated a bit more guidance.

In conclusion:
I think this game is a great choice for Souls-like fans. I recommend picking it up on sale—it's definitely worth your time.

First off, know that this game is not for everyone, especially not people who prefer a solo experience. The first two missions lull you into a sense of false hope while also showing you the ropes of stealth and combat. Unfortunately, by the first reactor level, you're going to quickly and brutally understand what it takes to get through this game. Mainly, 3-4 friends who are talented, coordinated, and crack shot aces.

GTFO provides atmosphere like no other. It truly is a survival horror game first and a shooter second (or even third). Your guns should be your last resort. Anyone thinking this is an Aliens: Fire team type game should be very wary. The game has about 80 levels that will test your patience and sanity. Everything you'll need is immediately thrown at you so there is absolutely no progression. You'll quickly find your favourite weapons and stick to them, but some exploration with other weapons and gadgets is recommended before you settle on your preferred loadout. The only thing that will slightly modify your experience are boosters that you can find in levels. These are pretty rare and are not shared with your team, so only one member can pick it up and get its benefits in future runs. Boosters have random properties and are a one-time use. They are also split into three categories, so it is unlikely you can stack multiple good perks.

If you have a good group of friends and do not shy away from brutal and unforgiving difficulty, then this is the most fun you'll have with a multiplayer experience.
