Random teammate:
- Locks in Pathfinder
- Drops solo
- "The enemy is shooting at me"
- "I have been downed"
- PING, PING, PING, PING, PING
- Disconnects

10/10 teamplay.

Clarification: I'm not new. Played via Origin before the Steam release and I actually do love this game.

Im my opinion one of the best games released over the last years.

The wild west zombie/monster scenario is a welcome change to the common modern warfare- and future era games. The maps are designed well and demand different acting in different areas. The monsters are interesting and reach from common grunts to more dangerous "tanks". Although these monsters are barely a threat when it comes to killing a player, the real danger originates from them revealing your position to other hunters or forcing you to shift your focus during a gunfight.
The gunplay feels great and the absence of full-auto weapons makes every bullet count. This shifts the playstyle from today's common spray and pray tactic to a more tactical approach. The guns themselfs look nice and seem pretty balanced as both cheap and more expensive weapons can lead to success choosing the correct playstyle. Headshots are furthermore (almost) always an insta kill, making every gun a potential threat. In contrast to other games, shotguns are perfectly balanced allowing insta kills at close range while being useless at even mid range.
Working as a team, aim and movement, including unpredictability and the smart use of cover, is vital in this game. Additionally a bunch of tactical equipment like explosives, traps and consumables provides an extra advantage in different situations. The smart use of such equipment can be gamechanging in a fight.

Although these factors reward a tactical playstyle and allow well coordinated groups to dominate entire servers, which is great in my opinion, beginners may have a hard time getting into the game. The skill based matchmaking however tries to reduce the problems arising from this very skill gap. The downside of this matchmaking approach is the reality of empty servers from time to time if you are part of a "higher elo".

Even though many people report severe server issues and cheaters, I have only encountered very little of these issues: Servers do have a few problems from time to time, the frequent disconnects other people are complaining about however, have never occurred for me. Same goes for cheaters: After 200 hours, I can count the cheaters I have met at one hand. As stated previously, the combination of gamesense, mapknowledge and good aim allows you to pull off crazy kills.

Concerning older players claiming the "hardcore" aspect of older versions has gone missing and the game is now "casual": I totally disagree. The game has removed certain aspects that were either RNG or gave huge advantage to certain players. Example: The reduced sway now allows better aiming giving an advantage to people with good aim while the extreme sway of previous versions increased the number "lucky" headshots as you were not really controlling the match between your sights and the enemy's movement. An other aspect is the change to a brighter night. I think it is fair as now every player is able to see properly. Although the nightime maps are still dark, you can still move and complete the objective. During former versions, players (including myself) with certain hardware (black equalizer monitor for example) had a HUGE advantage. In my opinion these changes were totally necessary and stress the tactical approach I enjoy so much.

I really hope for a growing player base and interesting content in future.

To sum up, a great and atmospheric, yet not an easy game. Best to be played with friends. I totally recommend.

CS:GO Review
"Your matchmaking experience will be significantly affected because your Trust Factor is substantially lower than the mariane dig. CS:GO's matchmaking will prioritize finding opponents with a similar substantially lower Trust Factor."

A fun experience!

Although the game's idea is great, it suffers from (gamebreaking) bugs, the performance is horrible and the P2P approach was never thought through. Killers can easily use lag/ short disconnects to their advantage. This reminds of the horrible "host-tool" abuse in old COD-titles. The game has the active playerbase and generates the money to switch to a more secure server architecture. However, this does not seem to be a possibility for the Devs.

Not to be recommended currently (unfortunatelly).

Early Access Review
After almost 4 years of development, this game fails to provide, at least, an acceptable experience. The performance his horrible. Even with a high-end PC and different settings tried, the performance is unstable and feels horrible. The "AI" is the worst I have seen in a long time. Failing to get past obstacles. Rubber-banding all over the map. Rotating between players if there is more than 1 enemy around. Hit registration fails multiple times.
This game looks nice, but is simply no fun to play. As both PVE and PVP suffer from horrible lags and bugs that may make the effort of multiple hours useless in just 1 second.
Just another failed survival game. Sadly...
