Very solid game, lots of fun

Addicting, and very polished. A lot of love went into this game.

One of the best remakes on the market

Anemoiapolis is a very interesting game about exploring liminal spaces, that doesn't quite hit the mark. Many other "Don't recommend" reviews explain it very well so I won't go into detail here (The ticket system isn't great, half the levels feel unfinished, etc.)

But I do think there is the makings of a great game here, and from following the developer's Twitter for a while I am confident that he has a good understanding of liminal spaces and what makes them scary. And that does show in a few of the levels here! In particular, I enjoyed the opening sequence with the pool and locker room, and as many others have said the family resort is pretty great. The theater is okay.

I'm looking forward to see what Andrew does with chapter 2. I'd love to see more environments that feel immersive and lived-in, and that gives you the feeling that you don't know what is around the next corner. I think Andrew was going more for a surreal/alien atmosphere than environments that feel more realistic, and personally I'd like to see more of the latter. But both can be done well.

At it best this game can be quite fun, but the issue is that those moments are starting to be few and far between. It is terribly balanced, and somehow, they manage to make the martial and caster disparity even worse than in standard 5e. EVERYTHING has resistance to piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning, and no you cant overcome that with magic weapons (that we have seen). The devs also seem to go out of there way to ensure that enemy's abilities and tactics just cant be countered in any way (flying creatures immune to prone, vampires darkness ability cant be dispelled or lit up with daylight, etc.)

Lots of potential but disappointing so far.

Very fun and strategic game to play with friends

You won't find another RPG like this out there. If you are interested in this period of history, you should definitely play this game, you can tell the developers were very passionate about the subject matter.
