I must not be smart enough to understand such a deep and unique game

I don't know who needs to hear this but there are so many better combat styles than WoW. As much fun as spamming the same skill and hammering other abilities off cooldown is, this fails to deliver in both interesting mechanics and new ideas. On one hand, it shortcuts the WoW experience to the end game, which is the biggest pro for this style of game and I hope it takes off. On the other, I hope the devs look into revamping their combat for both shaking up class rotations and boss mechanics that aren't the same old song and dance.

Played dauntless for a long time, base game is a fun concept that's hard to screw up. However, Phoenix labs continuously:
Resets progress
Has notoriously broken maps/behemoth interactions
Unstable servers
Recycles content

I'd be fine with most things, esp for f2p, but their newest cash grab is pushing pay to win by gating weapons/power behind a paywall instead of being strictly cosmetics/QoL boosters.

Can't recommend in its current state. Maybe wait 3 years for them to reset progress again and see if they improve on that cycle.

Current status unplayable. Will update if game gets fixed.

Update 1: After some fixes on HD2 and AMD, game looks stable. Go spread managed democracy or die trying.

Update 2: New roll outs continue to break the game, causing host crashes which ruins everyone's progress.

If you've played Remnant 1 and are wondering about this, ~80% of the changes are great QoL. They doubled down on puzzles/secrets in lieu of rng drops around the world, and it's worth your time to check it out.

If you're new to the game, my personal opinion is you should know two things: do not use a guide (at the start), and experiment. This game is built on discovery, secrets, and having those "WHAT!?!?" moments. If you play with a step-by-step tutorial on what to do, where to go, and how to get everything, you're going to end up with no gameplay. There is no end game; once you've unlocked everything, you're done. Its predecessor had a survival mode, but you had nothing unlocked, and while it was an enjoyable end game experience, the story, atmosphere, and thrill of the hunt is what makes Remnant stand apart. When you feel stuck or like you need a guide to make progress, then by all means---no judgment here---but do know that this is not a conventional RPG where you're trying to get super powered and then do The Thing™. Finding the super powers *is* the experience, and if you keep that in mind, you'll find yourself enjoying the iterative playthroughs, the campaign-spanning hidden quests, and feel rewarded for your time. As for experimenting, this game does a good job letting one build shine, only to take away its advantages the next fight. Keep an open mind, shuffle your loadouts when you get stuck, and enjoy the weird puzzle shooter in a souls-like world.

Update: After careful review, this game is still good.

Good solo game with mandatory multiplayer interactions at high level. Is this a great MMO? Not really. Does it have a good story that is worth a playthrough? Yes, especially for free to play. Raids have some interesting mechanics, but you get locked out of content weekly/daily, so it's more of a slow burn than something you can grind on for hours.

Make sure your keyboard has a new G key before installing.

Pros:
Exploration

Cons:
Content is inch deep, half mile wide.
Community is overwhelmingly toxic (See title)
