What program was causing the crash?(for the record)
For my part i installed toonhud and a custom cfg from cfg.tf which caused the game to crash after the loading hint vanished first a black screen and then booting me off the game ,solved it by forcing the game to create new config files.
It made sense as maybe the ui was corrupt
Not sure if this is of any help
Anyway ou can check the wiki for any game too, this includes recommended mods, fov and modern resolutions, common fixes, etc.
Oh and btw since you are fairly new to the game you may not have all the weapons in rhe game, if so hit me up and i ll get them to you and dw they are dirt cheap.
Hope you get it fixed!!
Then right click on the game on steam, go to the local files tab and select "Verify game files"
This worked for me today, not sure how it will go for you
