The game is, in a vacuum, fun. However it has many issues that have gone unaddressed by Namco.
1) It's currently plagued with plugers and cheaters (especially at the higher ranks) and the devs have done little more than wax poetic about how they're "working on it". They've been saying that since T7 (so 8 years of waffling).

2) It's a $70 game with a F2P monetization scheme. On top of that it's utterly lazy, mostly consisting on bland cosmetics or copy/pasted assets from the last game. On top of THAT the base customization mode feels very bare-bones which gives the impression that it was gutted intentionally to incentive spending on their cosmetics store. And on top of all that, they had the gall of keeping the cosmetics store secret until a month after the game's release to avoid the bad press affecting game sales.

3) The balancing is a hot mess. Namco seems to be taking the "infinite monkeys on type-writers" approach to the balancing. They habitually take wild approaches to problem solving, like changing entire game-wide mechanics to balance one or two characters or pushing out obviously incomplete changes, like coffee girl flying across the stage if she whiffs her running 3. They just keep sending what appear to be hastily cobbled together hot-fixes that attempt to solve one issue and cause 20 more to take its place.

4) And personally, the most heinous of all, they've been actively going after the community. They have gone full Nintendo sending out DMCAs and taking down channels and web communities which do or showcase PURELY COSMETIC and CLIENT SIDED mods. This is a complete 180 from their stance on community mods and is clearly due to their desire to funnel as much money into their gormless in-game shop.

TL;DR
I know in my heart the developers themselves have little to blame in this and would love to solve all these issues if allowed. Capitalism is a ♥♥♥♥♥, and the Namco workers are little more than dancing monkeys to the tune of Namco executives. But problems are problems and I ain't about to promote a game that is clearly being gutted for pennies on the dollar by a company trying to nickle and dime their consumer base at every opportunity.

In conclusion, hit the Namco lizardmen where it hurts. Don't by this game (for now), go play Guilty Gear Strive, SF6, or Undernight 2 instead they're just as fun and have none of the drama.

Early Access Review
love the game it's just what I expected and the costumes are hilarious but the controls feel slugish, slow, and unresponsive if you changed the controls back to the ones the demo had it would be a master piece other than that don't add anthing unnecessary, that's how great games get ruined. keep up the gret work :)
