ChrisGivinDay! - (A ‘Recession Friendly’ US Holiday)
True or False? People who are born and raised in the “US of A” have ALL heard this at some point in their life; “So…Where are we going for Thanksgiving Dinner this year? Your folks or mine?” or, “No! We’re NOT flying there again this Christmas! Spending the Night at the Airport is NOT my idea of a holiday!” or maybe, “Really! You Bought WHAT!? Dear, we TALKED about this!!” Come on…You know it’s TRUE!

Most breadwinners are yoked with the additional expense, time-management issues and the almost inevitable weight-gain that comes with the “Year End Holiday Season.” Throw in a global financial hiccup, like a pandemic, and it’s no wonder that more US citizens commit suicide shortly after the New Year is buried by the bills of last year’s Holiday Season!

Now imagine the joy of NOT participating in ALL the stress and madness surrounding Thanksgiving, Christmas and the mountain of Birthdays that compound over time, like interest at the bank. Just imagine!

Wishful thinking? The rants of a Scrooge-like curmudgeon, bent on tearing down happiness for one and all? No! Just because something has been done a certain way for as long as memory serves, doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be tweaked or updated. (We’d all still be bouncing around in Henry’s “Model A” if that were the case!)

By using current methods of communication, and the various social media platforms available to almost everyone in this country, scheduling a ChrisGivinDay event would be child’s play! The best perk would be that ChrisGivinDay can be celebrated ANYWHERE and ANYTIME that is convenient for EVERYONE worth inviting!

The Gift Giving associated with Christmas and Family Birthdays, as well as the fabulous meals and family communion of Thanksgiving can all be achieved with a little negotiation and commitment.
The result would be a ChrisGivinDay event which might include skiing the slopes of Colorado in March, or Scuba Diving the waters of Bermuda in September.

If gifts are required, they can be given. (Although partially subsidizing the financials’ required to attend such a festive occasion should be considered quite the ‘Gift’ to any fortunate recipient. Remember, “You Can’t Take it with You When You Go!”)

Clean-up after the ChrisGivinDay Feast is a snap! Leave a generous tip and walk out of restaurant!

The Year End Holiday Season can now be viewed with a whole new perspective! Instead of rushing around with the throng, the holidays become more like a spectator sport. Sure, you have shopping to do, but not for any particular Holiday Event or Mass Family Gathering.

There will be meals to prepare, but only for you and yours! The Holiday Season is still going to happen, but it’s going to roar past the calm eddy of your home and family.

So, I Sincerely wish you and yours many, many memorable ChrisGivinDay Celebrations!
