This review is for longtime Yakuza fans.
If you played through all of the yakuza games as myself and loved the series. (I even loved mahjong, koi-koi shogi which i all learned just to play the minigames to 100% the earlier games), I cannot recommend this extremely sub-par yakuza game to you.
Not only did they manage to butcher the gameplay, the game world, the story but most importantly the main character(s).

The following has spoilers towards gameplay and to the story

Cons gameplay:
In this game you only play as Kiryu instead of 5 characters (with like the content of 1 character from Yakuza 5)
-Only 2 cities down from 5
No Bowling
No Pool
No Ufo catching
NO WEAPONS (besides the ones you can pick up in battle that has 3 uses) OR WEAPON MODDING
NO gambling whatsoever
So many heat actions and battle moves removed
Purgatory and champions district removed
No Arena
Areas are not worth exploring, simply alot of empty places
most of the substories are simply boring

Pros gameplay:
-Some of the new minigames are fun
-The in and out of battle interactions are way smoother and the physics are also fun
-New exp leveling system is a lot more interesting (but they manage to ruin it by having basically half the points possible to spend to be the ability to gain more points).

Second and my biggest issue is how they ruined the characters completely.

1. They have all changed their personality to utter stupid and their actions does not represent their motivation. Kiryu suddenly wanting to do 3 years in prison because due to new super stupid Kiryu in his mind it would somehow make it better for the kids at the orphanage leaving Haruka and the kids to deal with all of the backlash that is the end of Yakuza 5 by herself(??????).

2. Haruka then turns into an utter moron (current year Haruka now is seemingly more stupid than 5 year old Haruka) and leaves the orphanage for the same 3 years because of internet trolls made her fear the other kids might be losing out on chances because of her, normal Haruka would know they would want her to stay way more anyway. She then without having any boyfriend or romantic interest has unprotected sex once with some low-level yakuza because he beat a guy half to death because he took pictures of her. Has a kid without telling the father and blatantly goes along with the most stupid shady plan for basically no reason. She goes into a coma after getting hit by a car due to stupid plan and after recovering she now also loves this yakuza guy appearantly, with no reason why. he is basically a violent moron that does stupid ♥♥♥♥ all the time and nearly gets everyone around him killed. If Haruka was not involved with him at all, everyone would be better off.

3. The story then finally ends when Kiryu is given the chance to fix everything, go back to the orphanage and live his days in peace with his family who would love for him to be there but instead he incredibly stupidly decides to fake his own death because "OH ILL GLADLY GIVE MY LIFE FOR MY FAMILY" even tho none was going after him anymore. Ruining basically what was the perfect ending to the legendary Dragon of Dojima.

Tdlr: Game is a butchered version of Yakuza, they ruined the story, the characters the main ones being Haruka and Kiryu.
If you love Yakuza games and played them all like me, you will be dissapointed.
