This was such a fun game, but I tried to play it again only to find that the servers are shut off???
That's super disappointing. I can't believe they're still selling it when you can't play it.

I want to love this game. It's beautiful and the story is really touching. But the combat is just a slog to get through, it isn't fun at all. I kept just wanting to skip all the fights to get to the next piece of story, or just to the next location. Someone else suggested it should be an anime or a film and I wholeheartedly agree.

I bought this game because I was looking for games with a decent weapon building system and it showed up in a few lists. On top of that I really enjoyed the first game in the series so it seemed like a good fit. The gun building is pretty good. In fact it's the only thing that really stands out about the game.

Deadspace was a great horror game, I was on the edge of my seat. But they took this one in a more action oriented direction without changing enough of the core mechanics to make it an action game. It really ended up being the worst of both worlds. There were some cheap (and obvious) jump scares that tried to pass for horror, and the movement was deliberate like a horror game. But this movement only felt hampering for the action parts.

Arid is not a survival game or an Open World Survival Craft. It is a linear story delivered through your character's exposition as you find notes left by the dead.
There is an energy bar that you fill up by sleeping and a hunger bar you fill up by eating and a thirst bar that means you need to drink water.
These things do not make a survival game. All the survival elements are tangential to core gameplay and in several places detract from the overall experience of the game. I can recommend it for what it is but not for what it is advertised as.

Oh boy, this game sure is from the era of quick time events.
They aren't actually that bad in this game. They happen fairly frequently but are also pretty short.
Rise of the tomb raider is better in terms of mechanics but this is still pretty good for when you just want to shoot some guys and get taken through the narrative.

Early Access Review
This software has potential but isn't in a working state yet.
Problems I had include:
when selecting a wall to delete it the software created another wall instead
when trying to use the undo function (ctrl z) it would skip my most recent placement and delete something I had previously added
when selecting a new tool the menu for the previous tool doesn't disappear making it difficult to read or interact with either of them
when the floor tool is highlighted walls were placed instead of floors
at one point while I was using a terrain brush all light disappeared except for on the terrain I was currently editing

The first part of the game was fantastic
but the experience is largely being ruined by the second part of it.
it's a card game with several types of costs for creatures, but there are so few cards that don't have one of these costs that I find myself repeatedly losing without having ever played a card because in my collection, I hardly have any cards that are playable from the beginning of the game.

Unfortunately the combat in this game feels a lot more like a distraction than anything that contributes to the story and the combat mechanics are boring as well.

This and the repeated screen-flashes that happen whenever an attack is made, you pick up an item, you activate a button, etc. make for an unemjoyable experience.
