Hear me out: this is the BEST SCP game I've ever played (or watched someone play...)

My SCP journey up to now has consisted of Containment Breach, 5K, and a lesser known game called SCP Descent. I love all 3 of them and am grateful for the experiences, and I've enjoyed others I've watched as let's play videos...BUT there's a common thread amongst most SCP games that seems to be its signature--what I refer to as "the jank." This isn't wholly a bad thing--most of the time it's actually endearing--but every SCP game I've played so far was pretty janky in one way or another. They also don't have much of a story, at least not with the depth I usually look for, as an avid videophile and once-upon-a-time bookworm. I've been addicted to well-crafted storytelling since before the early childhood memory dump every brain performs.

What I find most refreshing about Go Home Annie is, while it's still got its quirks...it doesn't come with the drawbacks of "the jank." This game is polished, and the characters and story are simple but compelling and engaging. This is a well-crafted narrative. The graphics won't blow the recent years' AAA horror game remakes out of the water, but they're really good, and they're always aeshetically pleasing and detailed; they just FIT. The environments feel like everything's right where it belongs...so to speak. The voice acting is fantastic, and there are a few great scares and the occasional drawn-out sense of dread and suspense. A pervasive air of mystery and intrigue hangs on throughout the game, like one of those dots in your vision you can't get rid of--except it's a question mark instead of a dot...or that just-barely-audible-but-nonstop ringing in one ear from a lifetime of heavy metal enthusiasm.

This game's just great, plain and simple. I got it for free (thank you so much!), but had I not I definitely would not have regretted my purchase. This is an awesome game!
