It's kind of like Monster Rancher, except it's cute girls instead of monsters.

It's got the same glorious trend though: put your heart and soul into waifu, you go far, but waifu dies before you can actually do anything. Then you get to relive the whole process all over again.

Maybe I'll write a better review later.

I could write a long review, but I'll try to keep this kind of short. Besides, I'm biased.

I will try to keep this spoiler-free. Put simply, Fairy Fencer F might not be for everyone, but if you like turn-based JRPGs, lots of customization, or VN-styled cutscenes, it's perfect. Plus there are waifus. And husbandos, if you like that.

Pros:
+ Runs very smoothly, even on my toaster computer (you can change resolutions too)
+ Tons of customization with World Shaping/Furies and the WP system
+ Cute art, cool designs, and likable characters, with character development!
+ Not your typical battle system - action yet turn-based, tension gauge which you use to 'Fairize' aka power up
+ Cool skills, and you can also skip them and make battles go much faster by holding down the Next button
+ Fully voiced in Japanese! Even the fairies are voiced!!
+ Multiple endings and subevents in a kinetic visual novel style; multiple playthroughs available/needed
+ Harley and Ethel

YMMV
* Very easy without any way to change the difficulty
* Difficulty also doesn't change on next playthrough, though makes the playthrough much faster
* Synthesizing/alchemy and quest system, but don't have any real impact or incentives
* Some of the OST is memorable, but others are just typical RPG fare (I like the second Fairize song best)
* Dungeons and 3D look alright, but are reused and are fairly short
* Plot twist is only somewhat predictable, but a little frustrating

Cons:
- Pretty bland setup with some stereotypes and a cliche JRPG backstory (two deities fought, good vs. evil, wish-granting)
- Characters might seem annoying at first (Fang was awful at the beginning, but even he matures by the end)
- No Harley or Ethel route [Edit: Looks like this was improved in Advent Dark Force, so get that!]
- Godly Revival has no effect on actual story (you'll see what I mean)

Basically, get it because Tiara is best girl.
