While I would not recommend this game, it is just because I, personally, am not a fan of this type of game.

However, after spending a couple hours with it, I can see this game being a hit with the souls-like community.
The game is beautiful, runs great (on a 4090 anyways), and the combat feels good.

So yeah... +1 to the devs, despite not being a fan myself.

Honest TLDR review from someone who actually played and is still playing the game.

Recommend for Bethesda enjoyers.
Do not recommend for non-Bethesda enjoyers.

Top 3 Likes:
  • Main Story to NG+ makes sense and is solid for replay-ability.
  • Excellent side stories that outshine most of the main story.
  • Ship builder and outposts are dope if you're into that stuff, like I am.

Top 3 Dislikes:
  • Vlad's temple quests are arguably more annoying than Preston Garvey's settlement quests in Fallout 4.
  • AI can be mega-dumb & quests can be buggy.
  • Re-skinning gear to anything you've collected should be a thing but it is not.
Side note on re-skinning: I wouldn't have a much of a problem without it if attaining good gear was reasonably farmable, but it is random and annoying.

Hatin' on the haters:

People out here complaining that space is hollow and all that like they don't fast travel in other games they play. Space is fun if you actually engage with it.
  • Have you explored every system? I did (not completely, obviously).
  • Have you read terminals & books leading you to cool stuff? I did.
  • Is there more out there I know I haven't discovered yet? Yes.

People gotta realize that Bethesda is setting this game up for the modding community. We're in the early stages of what will ultimately become a modder's paradise. Think of all the cool stuff modders can do with those "empty" planets. Think of all of the opportunity Bethesda has to expand this game, perhaps infinitely.

At the end of the day, the game is good.
Is it mindbogglingly life-changing and astoundingly innovative? No.

Set realistic expecations, naysayers, and enjoy something for what it is: A good time.

While I hate the queues, I can't stop playing this game.
At the time of this review, I have roughly 2000 hours in Dead by Daylight, which is still one of my favorite games. However, VHS has been stealing all of my time lately... and for good reason.

Biggest con - Queue times for games (this can be 1-minute or 20 minutes... it's weird like that)
--Tip to the Devs: remove regions and just select players for games based on ping.

Biggest pro - Complexity in strategy. I've seen both highly aggressive and incredibly safe strategies work for both monster and the teens. While it has it's similarities to Dead by Daylight, it's requires a lot more communication and makes team play a lot more rewarding.

If you like DBD, give it a shot... You'll probably like it.

As a streamer on Twitch, this is one of the few games I don't get burnout while playing. I could play this for hours on end and enjoy it the whole time.

If I wasn't addicted to Overwatch I'd be playing this game non-stop.

I am a 1-man wolf pack,

I've been playing this game solo for over 42 hours of gameplay now and I've accomplished a lot.
I still have yet to tame a dinosaur yet and am convinced it's not actually possible despite the undeniable proof that it is.
However, I am plenty fast myself as I've dumped a great deal of points into movement speed.
Come at me, bro.

This game is amazing. I mean really amazing. Every time I think I've finally seen everything something else pops up. It's crazy and I love it. I've ran along the coast, in the jungles, along rivers, in caves, and climbed the tallest mountains. I have multiple outposts, but I feel as if I always just end up leaving the last one behind to never return. I find new stuff everywhere. This game is really about details and there are plenty of them. So many, in fact, that it's almost impossible to completely experience this game alone. I have been recruiting friends daily to join in on my ventures and slowly it's picking up. My wolf pack is growing.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...

You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. But when Dan bought ARK: Survival Evolved I knew he was one of my own! And my wolf pack, it grew, it grew by one. So there were, there were two of us in the wolf pack. I was o- I was alone in the wolf pack, and then Dan joined in later. And a couple days later, when a couple more friends picked up the game, I thought “wait a second, could it be?” And now I know for sure, I just added a couple more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the jungle together, In The Lost World, looking for Tripwires and Stimulants. So tonight, I make a toast.

Chyeaahhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Blood brothers.

CS:GO Review
Each edition of Counter-Strike has been roughly the same game.
That being said, it's still great and better than Call of Duty.
