Beth hit the nail on the head with this one.

They are managing a breakthrough by introducing a new IP that suits their strengths far more than some of their other franchises. We'll see Starfield for years, and there's no doubt about it. The upgrades to the engine were substantial enough that while you can see the Gamebyro yank at places, it does not take away from the overall experience. Being able to vault/mantle on ledges, use ladders, reintroduce classic Beth RPG mechanics, substantial procedural generation, and the graphical leap from Fallout to this makes this a fantastic upgrade.

The initial few hours are rough. I'm not going to lie. There's no "wow" factor akin to opening the Vault door to see the ruins of DC in your view after hearing your Dad escaped or leaving the cave's darkness right after surviving Alduin with Skyrim's Mountains in your sight. This is like New Vegas, where you wake up in Doc Mitchell's Office and step out. Ironically enough, it had the same early game issues this game has, but just like New Vegas if you stick with it after clearing out the Powder Gang and moving down south, you will find a treasure to behold when you step foot into the main city.

The lack of handholding is a breath of fresh air I want to see continue with these games. I also enjoy the new perk system, which combines an RP background and a leveling system that promotes doing rather than farming. Want to hit rank 2 in lockpicking? Where you must go out there and lockpick.

I cannot stress how much it gets better. Most of my playtime is running through much of the procedural generation stuff. I've done the main quest (which is fantastic and one of Beth's best so far) up to a certain point where many of the mechanics have been taught to me. Afterward, I went into the black to explore the various systems around me. So I went to Mars, which houses many old techs in lore when spaceflight started in the setting. As I was exploring the area, I stumbled upon a facility that a Merc group took over. I shot my way through and encountered a note showing some location they were heading out to.

I walked back to my ship and hopped over to the site noted. Upon landing, I saw a Fracking Station and approached it, which housed a bunch of friendly NPCs wandering around. I spoke to the people inside, and the supervisor told me about Spacers (Unorganized Criminals/Outlaws) that kept hitting the station for supplies. They can't last much longer and must keep working on the facility, so they asked if I could help. I went off to this facility they mentioned, and a ship landed in my path near the Spacer's Facility, and the Merc Group that I shot up earlier started piling out of it. They started fighting when I arrived, so I shot my way inside, only to discover that the facility was inside a cave. I worked my way inside, killing the Spacers, and the leader (he had a higher HP bar than the normal ones) dropped a keycard leading into their sleeping quarters. I opened the door up, and there were these space worms inside! So I killed the worms (which reminded me of Alien tbh ) and grabbed a log they had.

In the logbook, the Spacers detailed how they would retire from a life of crime, and they were finally happy to feel good about themselves, turning into a stable lifestyle. Welp, they're all dead now. I wandered around the sleeping area and entered the bathroom only to see two books sitting by the pooper. It was Frankenstein and Oliver Twist. I read both books, and they gave me the quest to visit London on Earth. So I fight my way back out since the Mercs washed the Spacers outside and make my way to the fracking station, where I get paid for my job and get pointed at the mission board right out, where they will post any requests for help. I hop on my ship and make my way to see Earth. I won't say what I saw when I arrived in London since I want you all to experience it for yourselves, but all I just wrote is procedurally generated content.

I immediately purchased the Constellation Edition right after that play session, so my playtime on Steam is low. Now to wait for Starfield Together Reborn.

I find the game to be very enjoyable to roam around and handle random crimes in CO-OP. It's not arkham and it's not trying to be so I can appreciate both of the games and what they bring to the table.

Early Access Review
Don't buy this game. Not only does it run like utter crap after many years of being in early access but these guys are pure shill. "Studio Wildcard" don't exist as you know it and was merged with Snail Games making it Snail Games Inc. Studio Wildcard did not only make an expansion pack for ARK but is making 2 ARK spinoffs AND A WHOLE NEW GAME that is called Dark and Light which they are using the Ark engine on.

So you see this game right here? It's been not double dipped [expansion], triple dipped [2 ark spinoffs], but QUAD DIPPED [A WHOLE NEW GAME] without it being finished. You know what? Instead use that money to go buy Conan Exiles, DayZ, or Rust because at least those other companies have more integrity that this one.

EDIT: I forgot about Paid Character Transfers. Just LOL.

I brought this game since they promised during 2013 they wouldn't do any microtransaction hence why I supported them by buying every piece of DLC they made. They decided my loyalty and the money they earned from the DLCs+Box Price isn't enough for them only to add in microtransactions. Stay away from the game, you're only going to be paying $100+ in DLCs only to be hit by lies and paywalls because the best gear can only be found my RNG boxes like a it's a damn korean MMORPG.

Lost all my respect.

EDIT: It has been changed.
