instant in my top favourite 4 fighting games ever, top 1 platform fighter (but thats kinda a given considering the competition is M*ltiversus, arthritis inducer 2001, ultimate, and the nickelodeon game that was doomed by being the sequal to a sub par release)

genuine peak though, if you like fighting games but never liked platform fighters, try rivals. if you like platform fighters but with you didnt have to develop carpel tunnel every time you jump, play rivals. if you like furries with swords, play rivals. if you want to be crushed under loxodonts Dair, play rivals

amazing fighting game

imagine footsies, karate champ (mainly visually), and street fighter 3 mixed together

its relatively easy to pick up, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ its got a high skill ceiling

also it has a sword using midranger (im a biased ky player) 10/10

onlines good, training mode is good, they patched juggernaut glitch back in, buy it before the mouse decides they dont want peak on the menu

the online for this is actually so bad, it's stuttery as all hell. keep in mind I'm on steam deck so that might impact it, and I didn't know if my opponent had a wired connection or not, but if those aren't the thr cause then calcom needs to fix this ♥♥♥♥. if this is the state the MvC collection launches in I will be so pissed off

this is not even to mention the fact that you can't play street fighter alpha 2 online, only alpha 3, the kusoge street fighter with the infamously busted V ism.

the training modes aren't even that good either. they're bare bones. they don't even have frame data, hitbox viewer, reversals, or block first hit only.

I'm sticking to fightcade dude. idk how to set it up on steam deck so I guess I'm only playing the best game ever at locals and at home :3!!

very good very epic

firstly, its £5 off sale, and cheaper on sale. if you like 3d platformers, and exploration, just buy the game choom.
really great game, amazing movement, great exploration, fantastic abilities.

if its important to you (it is to me) THERE IS NO DOUBLE JUMP!!! YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY BE CONFIDENT IN YOUR MOVEMENT AND NOT JUST DOUBLE JUMP EVERY SINGLE JUMP!!!

the combat is a bit generic but it isnt the main focus, its far from being the main draw. its more of a break from the movement and exploration, and a way to guide movement in arena sections.

the ending is kinda bad though in my opinion. i might just be too stupid to get it but like, it just wasnt anything and it made no sense.

SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING
after you defeat the end boss, the screen fades to white, theres a little speech where the boss says some stuff, and the game goes back to the title screen. when you load back in there is absolutely nothing else, no new game+, no special rewards, no post game content. it makes you think "is there another ending?" until you look it up and find out, oh ♥♥♥♥! that is the real ending!

non of that is to say that the game is bad, the game is amazing. go play it! but the ending is a really noticeable outlier in that amazing game
