It's a solid game with good devs, there's heaps of mods for the game if you're into that sort of thing, there's multiplayer etc. My MAYBE only gripe is that once you hit late game, there's nothing really left to do.

If you're a new player, don't give up keep trying over and over again, you don't win in this game. You just do a little bit better each time

Starbase in it's alpha isn't a bad game per say. Yes it's got bugs, stuff messes up and then the devs swoop in and try to make it right pretty dang quick. The shooting feels pretty meaty, the level of customization is nuts, the scale is massive and there's just a ton of good things to say...but.

Ship building from scratch seems impossible to learn without watching 1-2 hours of youtube tutorials, having a surface understanding of coding and scripting (unless you copy stuff from github) etc. My point is that it's almost too indepth and too complicated.

Next to get the good ores you have to fly further from origin into PvP space, heck yes, I don't mind losing ships to pvp but when I have to fly an IRL 30 minutes to 1hr staring at my blue screen dodging black dots that could instakill my ship, then laser beam some rocks and bring them back 30min-1hr repeatedly....I mean it's just a time sink and after a short while it gets tedious. Besides the fact that if anything does hit your ship and you suffer minor damage, you're now forced to poke and prod random parts hoping you can trouble shoot how to make your ship limp home...I could not, it's not necessarily the games fault that I'm too dumb to figure out how to play it...but like...dang

anyway if they make the new player experience a little better I'll amend my review but for now, unless you're going to MIT for software engineering this game isn't worth it.

If you can snipe this one on sale it's pretty solid. For full price you get your general "run around in the woods alone and kill 4 baddies" missions x5 with a grand lead up where you kill....10 baddies by yourself with some Russians yelling in your ears. You play with a neat lil radio gadget which is basically just a ham radio you turn knobs on, pretty sick.

Uh the real treat here is honestly the map and the gear/vehicles you get out of this DLC and you're really only going to get milage out of that if you're playing ops with a unit and even then most units just use modded content to get the Russian stuff (even if this DLC stuff generally looks much nicer).

Overall, if you like the pacing of Arma missions get this at a discount, it's a scam at full price

Took way too long to get a match even with the new match making. Regardless the few rounds I got to play basically went like this.

Load in, everyone sneaks around with their mallets. Power attack the same enemy over and over room to room. If you or your teamate mess this up everyone just sprays their guns at knee height until you either win or wipe. There's some kind of mechanic with blocking/reinforcing the doors but there's no way to know which ones to do it to unless you've already played that map. Every room looks and feels generally the same, Foggy. The general atmosphere and look and feel is good but the actual gameplay loop is super meh to. Wouldn't mind giving it another go but as it is now, I had to refund

If this game is on sale for like $10 bucks it's worth it just to explore and enjoy the environment. Everything else is just a janky mess. The alien is like OOOH HERE I AM BOOGIE BOOGIE BOO and either insta kills you or you tap it 3 times with a flame thrower. The pissy AI robot dudes just slowly walk after you reading off a brochure or something. Anyway you quick time event mash button, pull lever, adjust knobs, turn wrench, cut panel just to get to the next area where you tap alien 3 times with a flame thrower, get punched in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by the robots slowly walking behind you only to discover....another room where you have to turn a wrench, pull a lever, recover a painting of a lost grandmother followed by mixing your favorite cocktail and finally pushing 3 buttons in a sequence that isn't even a puzzle, it's just...push these buttons. Go ahead, push em BOOM ALIEN HEARD IT NOW U TAP HIM 3 TIMES WITH A FLAME THROWER, next room......for like ~10 hours. it's a 3 hour game that got stretched out to about 10-15 hours to justify their $40 ACTUAL AMERICAN US DOLLARS price tag. Don't buy unless it's deeply discounted.

Okay, I thought it was gonna be yet another crappy early access survivor game....it basically is, lets be honest. But to be fair it's basically a better H1Z1, a much better infestation or whatever the hell those greedy bastards are calling their game this week. Not as good as DayZ after thier 6.0 patch in my opinion but this game isn't bad at all and worth the $20 bucks if you got it to throw down for one of these games.

Generally I think this game suffers from a pretty unintuative user interface (I had a gun, pressed R to reload ammo from my inventory into it...had to do it through the G menu). The loot tables are pretty slim pickings, But I think this is pretty common for these kinds of games, one week its guns and ammo everywhere and next week theres no food anywhere cause devs are always messing with it, which is fine. I think alot of the animations are pretty janky, which is fine. performance is actually...pretty damn good, had 60+ FPS with no hitching or drops (had two small 2 second hiccups while it was raining super hard, which is pretty dismissable)

Overall, this thing has potential to be decent and in the very least a nice break from DayZ while they are getting their ♥♥♥♥ together for some of the patches where the game is literally unplayable, decent work devs. Keep it up, but it's a long road ahead for you boys.
