it's like deer hunting, except you air drop in and have to scavenge all of your hunting gear; while the deer are also scavenging their hunting gear and trying to hunt you - just like real life ;)

no man's sky is a fitting title because no one will be playing this game soon.

nominate this piece of sh!t for "worst game of the decade"

TL:DR don't buy it unless you like endless procedural repetition, grinding and discovering "new" things that all look the same and naming things after your d!ck.

Steam needs to update the game description on the store page as follows:

About This Game

Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man's Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.

In No Man's Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you'll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before - and perhaps never will again.

Embark on an epic voyage

At the centre of the galaxy lies a irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.

Find your own destiny

Your voyage through No Man's Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.

Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you'll reap huge rewards.

Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.

Share your journey

The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own...

Now for the review:

I started out liking this game and got into the whole exploration thing. after a while, you start noticing all the flaws of this title.

Animals/Creatures:

Running into all the various life forms was great initially - until you realized it's essentially the thing over and over again with a slight variation. The animals don't interact with each other, they walk around aimlessly and run away from you. some run around in circles. some attack you and do minimal damage.

Spaceship:

The only differences with the ships is the size of their cargo hold. they may look different, but speed, responsiveness, weapons, etc are all the same. wow. such variety.

Flying your spaceship is fun for maybe an hour. your ship has permanent autism mode enabled and has to wear oven mitts and a helmet so that you don't crash into the planet surface and hurt yourself. seriously. there is a minimum height you HAVE to fly from the surface of the planet. your weapons do nothing to the planet surface. you can shoot all you want and nothing happens.

The draw distance is sh!t and things just "pop" in and get generated as you approach them. you can't see animals from your ship either (not even the giant ones).

Taking the ship into space lets you shoot at turd shaped asteroids and get resources. sometimes pirates attack you. the combat is garbage.

Engaging the warp/pulse/whatever engines just looks like a load screen with a countdown timer. you get some rays on your screen and get to wait 2 minutes to get to the next planet.

You have to constantly enter menu screens to recharge you equipment and grind for resources. all the buildings are the same. all the "puzzles" are the same. it's the same 4 objectives over and over again. Everything starts to look the same after a while.

yea sure, i got some cool screenshots and named some stuff that nobody will ever see, but this a $15 game.

stop reading this review and buy this game already! actually no, don't do that, wait till it's on sale again and then buy it. or download a pirate version if you're poor. whatever the f@&%, just get it an play it.

did you like skyrim? i liked skyrim, but the witcher makes skyrim like a basic b@tch.

awesome graphics + epic story line + so many quests + medieval hookers + dismembering enemies + character upgrades + weapons + horses = witcher 3

the only thing i did wrong was buy this game on sale months ago and let it rot in my library for months while i played hat simulator 2016 instead..
