The issue with this DLC is really it being massively overpriced for what it is. When something costs 1/3 - 1/4 the price of the base game you don't really expect 1/20th the content. To be honest DS3 really had a feel of lacking content and being a bit small in general, so i'd kind of hoped the DLC would add something significant.

The new area is ok, but it's not really outstanding, and takes about 2-3 hours or less to see everything, unless you're the kind of person who takes a long time to do anything. It's about the size of 1.5 normal game areas, maybe a bit smaller than some of them, probably about 1.5 - 2x smaller than the DS2 DLCs, and smaller than the DS1 DLC. It's more a short outing than an adventure.

The unique items you find aren't significant, there's a few fun weapons, a few armors (though still it's the same mundane serious armor filling the base game). Theres a few useless spells and a ring and a new type of arrow. Then probably the only reason to do the DLC on a normal run, the few high level crafting items.

The enemies aren't really anything new or exciting, with maybe one exception. Theres 2 bosses, one of which is basically a reskin of the same boss that was in DS1 and 2. Then a boss who is probably the best thing about the DLC and is reasonably fun.

Then there's the PvP arena, which is ok for 1 on 1, or 2 on 2, but the fun modes 3 on 3 or free for all modes are reeeeally laggy. It's still silly fun regardless. Though the battles not giving you anything means that really they're just for fun or practice!

Really if this DLC had been sensibly priced it would be recommended, but it's just double the price it should be not on sale.

Due to the base game's crap balance and difficulty drop to sub nuclear fallout shelter levels compared to the original these are no where near as fun or exciting as the versions in the first game. The game is just too easy and "noob friendly" for these to be any fun, unless you like winning with little effort or shooting a bunch of samey pushover police (though the spawn rates are kind of low). This is more annoying as these two used to be some of the more challenging heists in the first game, and it helps to show what a joke the game and the developer has become.

Usual DLC tactic of an overpowered weapon, in a game now full of overpowered weapons. Oh and more money grind because another bag grinding heist is always fun and exciting.

Overkill is now like a junk hollywood studio. Endless rehashes and an allergy to original ideas.

It helps fix an issue with the game (not getting stuff for your preferred class ever, godamnit) adds some new stuff and is free. There's nothing really negative to say about a free weapon pack.

Oh but Sigmar sucks compared to Slaanesh.

Early Access Review
The game's development isn't exactly progressing in an encouraging direction. It's basically an Early access title with 1 proper content patch in 8 months. It's a game with a few small maps and a few inbalanced perks to grind right now.

Even though there's been this huge void of content, the developer decided the next addon instead of finishing the game should be microtransactions and an ingame store. You know because finishing the game and completing it or giving people something for funding their development should be a secondary step over monetization schemes reselling content made by other people.

So you're left with a fairly expensive game for a few small maps and a few badly done perks and weapons. It works fine graphically, but there's a few issues with online lag and the beserker's parrying being a bit random. There's also a few silly balance issues with perkdecks and other such things as the developer seems like they don't know how to balance anything. Of course these issues will probably be ignored now that the developer wishes to focus on monetization over giving this enough content to be a full game.

Really at the moment there's very little to do but play the same few maps over and over and grind perks. The rest is just hollow promises that haven't yet materialized. It seems they are relying on modders to provide the actual content, but this hasn't exactly happened. I'd probably have much more playtime if there was more "gameplay" to be had right now. Of course now they expect the new gameplay to be grinding the same tiny samey maps for "free" microtransaction junk. Exciting.

It looks fairly nice I suppose, but it's a bit clean. Not really gritty or dark rather than comic and a bit silly. Kind of like a childish gore sim than something gritty and "realistic".

The classes are a bit imbalanced, to put in nicely, with some just clearly better than the others and some perk deck skills just kind of useless. The bosses aren't very well thought out for all classes and really theres not much reason being anything but 1 or 2 when facing them.

Maybe if the developers start being less lazy, produce more content and focus more on finishing the game than adding ways to make money while they sleep this review will improve. But really this game is really minimal and utterly lacking in content and substance compared to the first game.

To be honest, compared to the first game it's kind of a continuation from when they started adding golden weapon skins instead of content (other than a few maps from mods) not a direct improvement. If you care about graphics over gameplay then i'm sure this is a clear improvement, but really it's just empty right now.

Them not really moving towards make a better game, just making money makes this unappealing to play currently. Maybe they will wake up, remove this gross junk and actually work towards making it a full and complete exprience. Maybe not, I guess we'll have to wait and see, but it's not something i'd recommend getting on right now.

Also developers, don't advertize "FREE CONTENT PACK" for an unfinished early access game. That's just stupid. Though it kind of draws attention to how actually releasing some content is a big event :p

Oh and adding in old junk with the same boring maps isn't really helping. This game is in no way worth it's buying price, especially when they add free to play microtransactions in.

Another no point to buying anymore weapons pack.

The weapon rebalance left most of these completely pointless as they are outdamaged (and have less ammo) than base game guns and pistols and later snipers.

All the guns have been rebalanced terribly so there's not much point to this DLC at all unless you are an archivist of terribly balanced weapons.

The mask materials are still useful but these will probably be rebalanced to be useless somehow too.

Pack has gotten significantly worse over time due to changes to the items stats. Several of the guns are junk compared to others in the game.

The Broomstick for example is now one of the worst pistols currently availible due to being slow and weak.

Update!

Overkill have decided that any brainless gibbon should be able to win on every difficulty without trying, so the game has slid futher down the easy path and thus become even less fun and boring. So really the only people who should buy this now is anyone who likes games which never present any kind of challenge, or those under the age of 7. Also, in updated news Overkill remain one of the laziest, underhanded developers on steam, and basically all the people with any talent have left the company.

...

Really the game is on a solid downward spiral. Over and over again the developer has shown they care very little for the core game experience or silly things such as balance. If you are looking for some kind of decent challenge, it's kind of unlikely you'll be finding it here. Really if you like challenging games stay away. The developer seems intent on turning this into an "everyone can win" kind of game instead of it being challenging or fun.

The developer loves to buff stuff, and has been buffing things for a long time now. DLC packs will come out with better and better weaponry (most recent example is the mini deagle, which has basically no downsides at all), perk decks (grinder) and other things designed so that everyone can play on the hardest difficulty with minimum effort. The weapons were also buffed to rediculous levels (some doing over 3x the damage they used to do) with almost no downsides. They tried to do the laziest possible rerebalance, but that made very little difference and showed how little the developer cares about the core game. An obvious example is the poor Broomstick pistol.

The developer gave this poor pistol the lowest damage for a pistol in the game, along with the slowest reload and slow fire rate meaning it was rendered entirely pointless. If they'd given it any effort at all this would have perhaps raised some kind of question. But yet they've done the same thing twice. It's hard to belive they do any gameplay testing or even play their own game at this point. But they clearly don't ever or care much beyond making money.

You can see this evident form the numerous bugs and dull gameplay that all the new heists seem to share. It's all grind 9001 bags for big Xp and fast levels to pour into the entirely pointless new Infamy system where you level up to erm, level up more faster. Which is yet another example of how much the developer cares for the base game, the last 8 Infamies don't even give you a reward of any kind. At almost every stage they have been getting lazier and lazier.

All the new content seems to just be Drills and Skins for $2.49 a drill. These aren't even pretty items you'd remotely want unless you had very poor taste. I'd estimate they take around 3 minutes to do by a blind one armed gibbon who had the mouse in it's mouth while being attacked by bees. The developers doesn't seem to care about it's playerbase and loves to inflict this crap designed to prey upon weaker willed members of society (it's basically gambling without the rewards) which is yet another amoral step they've taken.

The playerbase has taken a huge nosedive in response to the developers lies and scams, and it's very hard to find a decent team to play with. Really there's little reason to buy this game anymore.

The game used to be fun, enjoyable with friends and have a decent amount of depth to it, i've had many fun experiences playing this game and met a bunch of great people through it. Yet time and time again the developers lie and cheat the community adding in money making schemes for absolutely no reason (the most recent being stat boosting microtransactions). So really at this point I cannot recommend this to anyone and feed Overkill another player they have less than zero respect for.

The spiral continues. All that comes out now are paid for ads and rehashes of old heists. Oh and more overpowered weapons, because in a game with vertually no challenge left, that's exactly what was needed.
