Democracy has prevailed!
Sony has retreated to where it came from.
Let us rejoin the effort against the Terminids and Automatons, for bigger threats will surely rear their ugly heads out to endanger our Liberty!

I quite enjoyed OpenTTD and I looked onto this one as a better looking version of the previously mentioned game, I'm quite pleased with it so far!
I love the fact passengers can't be abused to full load and force them out on a train (like in some transport games) as they have their own destinations!
However, once the money starts rolling, its easy to snowball out of control, typical with these kinds of games, and I feel this one is far more generous when it comes to dificulty.
I played through most of the campaign, almost done with the last one, and am mostly playing on a map I generated with a nice little town on a corner of a river split.
I love the modular stations, they give us the chance to be creative with how we want our stations to look like.

This game does some things really well, others not so much, I wish that replacing old vehicles or sending them to depots for maintenance were a thing, as it feels too easy to replace things with a snap of a finger, depots are basically a one time thing in this one and the constant spam of messaging when it tells that vehicles are in bad conditions gets annoying when you have to manage thousands of vehicles.

On the topic of maintenance, there is no bad effect on bad vehicle condition, asides emission, but that's only bad to keep the towns growing case you have several vehicles driving through its streets, they do not break down or anything, they keep on rolling, same speed, same costs, just higher emission. You can counter this by adjusting a maintenance slider and it will gradually recover condition, but for an increased running cost. I think the system would be far better to every now and then send the vehicle to depot for maintenance, either to repair or replace, good to go, adds to the dificulty of planning and managing.

The lack of multiplayer, although not a big downside, kinda is to me as I'm a sucker to be competitive in these sorts of games, to see which company strives best or just casual co-op.

Overall, I recommend the game for a chill experience to build up tracks and roads at leisure once you have managed to get income flowing. If you are looking for something with a hard challenge along the way, forget it, you only snowball here as industries do not close to force some replanning or anything.

Correct me on anything if I'm wrong as while I do try to keep an eye on positives and minus, its sometimes hard to keep a track on everything.

PS: Don't stop your airplane at the start of the path and start it when another is landing on the same path, it will crash your game

At launch I would have not recommend the game, but the dev team is really dedicated into making a wonderful game and they are listening to our feedback big time as the game undertook drastic changes, it is far better now than what it used to be.

There are still several things to improve and implement, but overall I find it to be an enjoyable game as it is right now. Over time I'm sure the dev team will give us what is missing right now in the game, which will most likely be like how they do it on previous titles, DLC with some free goodies on every update.

So, ok, the game has issues.

The connection online is kinda crap, lagging heavily to the point the game is unplayable where you mash the buttons in hopes you land your combo right and hope to god the one person causing the game to lag will drop out, for some odd reason the connection issues remind me of how terrible connection was in For Honour when it first came out.

And sometimes the game likes to crash when trying to play online solo, at least to me the game just likes to completely dissapear every now and then, sometimes it doesn't happen but there are days it happens several times in a row

But other than that its a pretty fun game to enjoy! Its rewarding with several music tracks from the entire Final Fantasy franchise and icons from a wide array of games as you open the treasure that you get by leveling up your character or by outright buying what you want directly with Gil at the shop!
I do fancy the ability to make a playlist for my characters or in general to listen to the music I like and keep the ones I dont like away from my ears.

Do hope the game gets better over time, mainly in terms of online connection!

Edit: I'd also like to know why my game version still says "Free Edition" even though I bought the standard edition

Early Access Review
This game uses the same engine as the Life is Feudal does, but just for the fact that it has working Steam Powered Zeppelins it already tells the dedication put into this. Still alpha and a lot of things could be worked on here, but at least it shows how progress is done. Not to mention, Early Access Game, I am sure many changes will come to make it more unique.

If you see people complain about skill cap and grind, well, that is what this and LiF is about, you grab a group of people and you build up a town. These games are also meant for small amount of people, 64 top, preferably in dedicated servers where you can control what happens in them to avoid griefing and other dubious acts, which LiF MMO will definitely have with the release of the mmo.

Not to mention, LiF, come on, 3 years in development and horses cannot pull carts yet, the fanboys that started playing recently will never understand what happened in the past and the changes that have gone through the game all because they want to play the MMO. The developer is one of those that always avoid questions and confrontations by banning people that do that or giving vague replies to avoid the question or do the worst thing possible by mentioning other companies like "We released a major patch a few months back and other companies release these as DLC". News flash, DLC is NOT equal to Fixing Your Damn Game. Not to mention the Easter patch when the event was just to last a week, and Yesterday is when they decided to fix that.

Enough about that. Steam Hammer is pretty much what you would expect from Life is Feudal a few years back, you gather, mine, farm, but the skill tree here is much simpler, not sure if anything will be added, but a 600 skill cap means you can do EVERYTHING in this game, which is not the case of LiF due to their silly skill tree system (Because a cook needs to go through farming just to be able to toss stuff into a cauldron for some reason).

So grab a group of friends, join a server and get building or whatever, more fun that way, as well as to roleplay. Want to play solo with high skill progression? Might as well make your own server and raise up the settings. Multiplayer with fast skill progression? Look for one, or just get a dedicated server, just don't complain about it since it is not constructive feedback in these reviews because this type of game is not for those lacking in patience. But hey, at least combat looks more entertaining than in LiF with airships and guns. In LiF you cannot even fight properly in a horse because the developer refuses to fix things properly.

I am looking foward for the continuous development of this, according to the kickstarter this game will be released by the end of this year, I just hope it will not be a big dissapointment like how LiF is.

I mentioned LiF a bit too much, why? Because it has been abandoned as they solely focus on the MMO and only implement fixes and features on LiF: YO when they should have been added on release, which they rushed to score a buck or two while money grabbing with packs to beta test the MMO while the original testers of YO have just been completely flat out ignored while testing that crap for free.

From my experience people play this expecting a Single Player experience, to them I tell you this. Don't. Go play Skyrim instead or Breath of the Wild, because this does NOT give you a single player experience, nothing to fight asides animals, and even then combat here is clunky.

Where this game shines the best is in a server with people, where you can trade, pve, pvp, roleplay, working together in order to build up a town. There are servers that prefer the "Do everything" approach by letting the skill cap go to 3000 or something, which breaks the whole sense of working together since everybody prefers to do their own thing.

And yes, this IS a time consuming game, you need to invest time to improve your character into what you want to do.

I loved this game during development, made me so hyped seeing graphics improve and seeing the developers work on it. However, with every good thing comes a bad thing to it. So here is what I got to say about this for playing the past few weeks before this post:

Pros:
  • Graphics look really nice and runs incredibly well on my pc, mainly on the buildings and the enviroment.
  • A skill tree that explains a bit of what you can do at certain points of the skill which immediatly should let you know how to level it up.
  • Can bring people together very easily to build a town or even a fortress.
  • Although time consuming, it is what the devs wanted with this game, time and patience, because let's face it, that castle isn't going to build in a day.
  • Close to real in Some aspects. Carrying a big log weights you down massively, keeping you from running, carrying too much on your bag also makes you heavy and slows you down massively, and some other aspects.

Cons:
  • This game is NOT for Every one, you will not get action on the very start, instead you will be grinding with your group to build up a camp and, depending on the server, you get your action.
  • Despite being a "finished" game, it still feels like its being developed. Horse Combat is still glitchy to this day as well as even riding the horse anywere that is not flat, there is no Mounted Archery, blows sometimes don't hit the target even though you see the blade touching the opponent (A big example is when hunting a deer.) and track animals sometimes don't show on the ground but on you if you walk on the right direction.
  • Oh and horses still cannot pull carts.
  • Nice graphics and all but if you terraform a large area with your friends, depending on the type of ground you get you will have a big mess of terrain, either a dark brown area from forest soil or literally a Farm with fertile soil, because for some odd reason you no longer need to plow fertile soil if you pick it up and then just dump it on the ground.
  • No grass regrowth or ways for players to make it happen.
  • Plants will clip through the buildings, so if you build a shack on a lovely terraformed area that happens to have a bush or two on it, expect it to be clipping through the floor.
  • Wiki SEVERELLY out of date
  • Animal pathing sometimes gets them stuck on trees or terrain, making them easy targets.
  • Despite promising owners of this game a free beta access to the MMO they decided to flat out change it to a discount, I could understand that to the finished MMO, but for Beta access? If they are doing that at least just put more heart into this one first.
  • Strange skill requirements to craft some things, like Simple Clothing or even a Sign Post
  • Lacking in item variety when it comes to clothing and equipment.
  • Armor does not look good in some sets, mostly the Heavy and Royal counterparts
  • Armor is tied to the combat skill, only archers wear leather, only Berserkers? wear plate and only the skill tree of Footman can wear shields. It brings me the question why the hell archers need a full face helmet that blocks vision when they rely on vision in the first place. I am fairly certain Knights should be able to wear shields too
  • Limited character creation, only samples One voice line so that ingame you discover that the voices are not that good
  • Lacking in emotes and DECENT voice lines, I don't want my character to just say "You made me laugh" when he is supposed to actually laugh or even the best one "You frightened me" with such a calm tone.

Gosh, with these many Cons, why do I still pick this game? Because it is one of the few games that emphazises on reality and brings people together to build up a town, trade or fight, and I heard the developers are Still working through the game, but they already decided it was finished, which was a huge mistake from their part since it is nowere close to that. If another game pops up similar to this one and more polished I will definitely give it a try and put this one behind, but for now gotta be happy with what I get I suppose.

-EDIT-
Considering the Dev is by no means willing to accept feedback to help fix the game I am therefor downvoting the game after being banned for giving a suggestion and stating the truth about how he avoids strong arguments related to the game and the MMO version with weak responses that are just meant to avoid answering directly as well as banning them, saying that what we say is off topic or pure trolling.

Also, just support Steam Hammer, pre release, but so far they put more heart in the game than the ones developing LiF, same engine since the devs of Steam Hammer bought the 32 bit version engine from LiF, but hey, they got working flying zeppelins, while here in LiF we still do not have horses that pull carts AFTER 3 YEARS IN DEVELOPMENT.
