Basically randomly picked the series up and while the uh..content is good, I believe I can say that the characters are kinda flat, writing is questionable and the stuff we all 'came' for; teh pr0nz, is kinda just okay.

Most of the time you'll be just playing some puzzle game to get to see the next scene but in the middle of the game, these can feel super strict and limiting. I guess it's fine for the price but these types of games have been and done better.

I'm a degenerate zombie wave shooter co-op game enjoyer.
Countless hours of L4D1+2 and on KF1 made this shooter a no-brainer.

I can hardly believe this is running on the same base unreal engine 3 as the original stand alone kf1 release because the work tripwire has done here... lovely.
Guns feel properly kicky, fat and beefy sound effects, nice optomization, smooth performance even at the times where players above the 6 player cap and custom modded enemies. Nice dynamic blood FX, extra nice feedback for when you're taking and dealing damage and HELLA skins. They have fixed a lot of nasty bugs that, to this day, have not been fixed inside killing floor 1. So this is probably the most appreciated thing for me personally from 1 to 2. If you're a person that loves getting together with buddies or randos, you'll have a great time.

Onto my not so praised comments;
This game is monetized to HELL. Pretty much all non-gameplay effecting cosmetics and skins, tho there are lootboxes similar to dota2 so if that's not your thing then you can avoid those purchases entirely.. regular updates and new maps, tons of community made content as well. Spending money in this game is completely optional (Though honestly if there's a base purchase for a game, there should imho be little to no extra monetization beyond DLC. just my opinion) and it'll give you plenty of reasons to come back to play.
I have always loved the unique class based gameplay of all the killing floor releases. They are fun, simple and easy to wrap your head around, but I do wonder if these classes are actually somewhat equally viable in a co-op environment. After all, the first game had a lot of balancing issues with difficulty and class usefulness. Still, this is worth a pick up if you love a simple game about killing zeds. A marked improvement over the original. Can't wait for the 3rd game to come out <3

I owned the sega saturn original, dabbled in the wii sequel, played the japanese remaster, and finally decided to pick this classic up.
Context: The game launched originally back in 2012. At the time of writing this review in 2024, I have a few things to dive into.
This is essentially a port of the playstation 2 remaster, which is not a bad thing. However something must've gotten lost in the porting process.
The original more dynamic lighting of the ps2 release must have been improperly implemented because the color and lighting looks a bit more flat in the remastered version. The saturn mode fairs much better.
Porting this to the ps2 from the saturn code must've been a nightmare, given the original hardware's uniqueness, tho the masters at sega likely had proper documentation for the code, or likely used the source code assuming they had it.

All of the soundtrack in its brilliance is here. You'll find some vocals very fitting for the 32 bit era sega and all its charm. There are some cheeky unlockables that I will NOT spoil here. They even were lovely enough to include the very rare Christmas Nights, with all FMVs included. It isn't much, but greatly appreciated.

Now I may have misunderstood how the game works graphically but It's weird to have such a small amount of graphical options ESPECIALLY with this being a remaster + port of the sega saturn original. I'd say this game could use a really welcome update. This game is lovely as its own classic with some nice touch ups, and though it isn't perfect, it's great for if you love a unique and sometimes challenging experience...... Now give us a modern Journey into dreams port, dangit.

Listen okay. Hear me out. I've been playing this game for over 10 years. And what can I say about it?
If you love L4D or B4B this aint for you. It's a slower, more methodical wave shooter. The enemy types account for every situation. If you are out of position on higher difficulties, and like to play solo, you're doing it wrong.
Get some friends together, pick your role, stick to it, work as a team and you'll have a friggin BLAST. I love the game right out of the box.. but this game's replay value SKYrockets with mods, customer servers, and HELL even killing floor 2 enemies and weapons have been ported back to this first game from its sequel.
Its stereotypical british charm, its addictive gameplay loop, custom content and replay value along with co-op gameplay, makes this one of the best indie games of all time.

Listen okay. When I played this game back in 2011 when it first came out on PC, it was mad good. Excellent game that made up for so many previously bad Sonic games. Nostalgia, everything, excellent.

However.

Playing this game in 2023 when I have much better hardware is absolute ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. It keeps saying my settings to not work with the hardware I'm using. So why not program the game to match what it can manage???
Also when I did get this game to work, the 1440p setting is horribly scaled. It also doesn't give you an option to run the game in the monitor of your choice. Acceptable in 2011. Not in the modern day. It will never get patched to expand its compatability, so this game is just taking up room in my steam library for now. ♥♥♥♥ this game.

For fans of a challenging CLASSICAL 'vania experience, this game has a lot to offer. And just like those older games, it's linear, challenging and very well designed. Level design really ramps up after a few stages. There's also plenty of replay value for the price, unlike many of those old 'vania games you may love. Unlocking characters or killing them to power up the main character puts a lovely spin on the formula. If you plan to really test your action platforming skills with the higher difficulties, just be prepared... As for the thing I really like, they eliminated the knock back when you take damage on the easy difficulty so that's great for newer players. I'd recommend for anyone who loves intense action platform games like Castlevania, this is for you. For a classical metroidvania experience though, look to the main game; Ritual of the Night, instead!

Had a very unique gameplay flow when I tried it out when it first launched, it's a good game, at launch it was pretty unbalanced, but the community seems to have warmed up to its unique moba gameplay take.

FIX THE TIMING NEOWIZ
I have a PC that can run RE2 remake on max settings at 120 FPS.
Why can I not run this game higher than 30 FPS with no timing issues?
Inexcusable. Play the ps4 version over this version 100%
Also anti-cheat and DRM are extremely invasive. All the issues are a deal breaker for me.
Was played during free weekend.

Survival Horror is back!
I did not play this game at launch but I can assure you, this is one of the most polished single player games you will play this generation. The game has a great balance of difficulty for its main campaign modes and playthroughs, and also a good challenge on the extra modes, it's an amazing game to speed run as well, if you're into that.
Made some modern changes to gameplay, story and design but keeps the spirit of its original form in tact.
For folks who dont want to play horror games filled with cheap deaths, jumpscares and low production values, this is the game for you!
The campaign consists of multiple difficulties, assisted, normal and hardcore. There is a normal playthrough, and then a 2nd run to switch things up, this can be the case for both main characters you play as, tons of unlockables, concept art and extra modes to keep you coming back. At the time of writing, I'm just under 50 hours in and I keep coming back. My favorite things other than the amazing graphics, sound, expanded story and replay value is the engaging gameplay, which on normal difficulty and up will force you to carefully consider how you will assess situations, such as fighting the undead, running away, maintaining your resources and considering unexpected encounters which I will not spoil here. This is a game that will most certainly challenge you if you are new to survival horror, and havent played these games on the original playstation, n64, sega saturn, dreamcast, ps2 and gamecube. If you are careless with your resources and don't hunt for items regularly and explore your environment, you will 'brick' your playthrough so be warned. I like this type of thing, but for MANY players it will be a deal breaker. So be warned about that.
