It was good back when it was the DosBox version.
It was good back when it was the Unity version.
It's still good now that it's the KEX version.
Hell, it might even be a bit better now.

Edit: Good lord, Legacy of Rust was NOT made to be beaten on UV by mortal men.

I have played this game on and off since 2009.
At 2300 hours spent in-game, it's my second most played game on steam.
I love this game through and through.
And though I used to spend a lot of my play time in casual matchmaking, I have not used that at all over the past few years due to the overwhelming amount of bots instakilling everyone, spamming text and voice chat with profanities and slurs as well as votekicking and crashing players.
And there are SO. DAMN. MANY. of these bots flooding Valve's official servers.
I've spent the last 500 or so hours of my playtime in community servers, so the bot plague has impacted me minimally, but this thumbs down goes out to everyone who prefers and loves casual matchmaking, but aren't able to play it, and haven't been for the past 5 years.
Valve, get off your butts and Fix TF2!

Okay. From the getgo, this very much looks like your average streamerbait horror game, but it doesn't feel like it at all when you start playing.

There's so much effort that's gone into its background, story and characters, and damn it, that raccoon is endearing as heck.

Unlike a lot of other games similar to this, I never had any issues finding out where to go or what to do.
Interactable items and pickups are clearly visible, and the game does a very good job leading your eyes towards them organically.
No crap like having to find a specific piece of paper in a room with white square tiles and wallpaper or the one specific colored ball in the entire ballpit or anything of that nature.

The classic horror elements such as chases aren't done too bad either.
You won't have the game seemingly lead you towards an empty room with no way out, sending you to a loading screen as you wait for a respawn.
The path you need to take is clearly laid out, and fakeout paths are clearly telegraphed as being wrong before you even get to consider taking them.

I would like to ask for a mouse acceleration toggle, and a mouse sensitivity slider in the future though.
Anything but raw mouse input feels extremely jarring to me.
But that's a minor nitpick. Aside from this, the game ran and controlled beautifully. Nice work.

I'm looking forwards to Chapter 2.

OK, cool, Sony backed off and the account linking is no longer an issue.
But the game's still blocked in almost 180 countries.
And, with Sony blocking Ghost of Tsushima from those same countries, even after this game's "troubles", I think it's safe to say that Sony's not planning to rectify that.
No hard feelings for Arrowhead Studios, y'all're doing great. But Sony can piss right off.

I never played Quake 2 when I was a kid. Tried playing the old Steam version before, but couldn't get it to run. Left it on my backburner for years. Until now.

Nightdive did yet another fantastic job. Kudos, guys!
After the remaster released, I decided to hop in, try it out, maybe play through a little bit of it... aaand quickly got sucked into doing the whole game, plus the expansions and extras.
Nearly 50 hours later and I can safely say I like Quake 2 more than i like the original Quake. This was fun as heck to play through. The controls, the looks, the music, the aesthetics of the maps.
It plays, sounds and looks awesome.
And Machinegames' new episode is just *chef's kiss*.

Highly recommended.

I've seen some people say that this is the opposite of what Hunt Down The Freeman was.
I'd say that's somewhat accurate. That game was a piece of crap.
This game kicks a LOT of ass and is really enjoyable all the way through.
Its world design is fantastic, the writing and dialogue is interesting and fun. The gameplay is enjoyable throughout, and you'll pretty much never end up in a situation where you have no idea of where to go or what to do, cause this game is actually competently designed.
Hell, it's brilliantly designed. Play it. It's free!

I went into this expecting it to be a somewhat linear, story driven rpg, where the scale is kept small due to it being an indie endeavor, but man was I wrong, and I am happy for it.
This game is huge and has tons of content, despite what the lack of a price tag may suggest.

The map is gigantic, beautifully designed, and has tons of varied areas, and interesting things to check out and you can explore mostly everything at your leisure. (It does have a Fallout style enemy level system, where each area has a certain difficulty to it, so be a bit careful about wandering off the "intended path" although it is all manageable (No instakill Cazadors))
It's loaded with quests that are pretty much all a joy to take part in, with intriguing stories, interesting characters, and sometimes unique mechanics thrown in to mix things up. The side quests are largely all enjoyable too.
Not to mention that pretty much every line of dialogue is voice acted in English, and the quality of said voice acting is very high. The game's sound direction has a very professional feel to it. Not to mention the writing, which I'd say is top notch too.
There's new weapons, armors, spells, potions to try out.
There's no fast travel in a normal sense, but instead you get teleport scrolls that take you to specific points on the map, plus a taxi system.
You don't get a follower at any point that I'm aware of, but instead you can find items that are hidden around the map that boost your max carrying capacity permanently, lessening the need for a pack mule. Not to mention the Resident Evil / RuneScape style bank chests that are scattered all around the towns and cities that all have the same inventory so you can store all your stuff and be able to access it in multiple places.
This, and a few other collectibles with their own bonuses make it so that exploring the map, off the beaten path, in bushes, behind houses, out in the woods, on top of cliffs, under waterfalls and in ruins is extra rewarding.
Plus, the world building and map design helped, as exploring the game was never a boring affair. This also alleviated the lack of fast travel. Just wandering to where I needed to be pretty much always yielded something new to discover, or new collectibles and other items to help me on my way.

The only downsides I can think of would be that the game is a bit prone to crashing every once in a while, but quicksaving every few minutes solves that issue. And there were a few occasions where the scripting didn't quite work, and a door that was supposed to open didn't, or an NPC got stuck or flat out stopped working, but the developer console allowed me to bypass and fix the situation in those instances, so they were only minor annoyances.

I beat this game's main story, plus the vast majority of its side quests in about 140 hours. There's still other routes I could go with in the story, as well as multiple other endings I could go for, but I feel like the ending I got on my first playthrough is the one I want to remember out of this experience, so I will leave it at that.

This was an extremely enjoyable and beautiful experience. Thank you, SureAI, for this gem of a game.

Gonna switch this to positive again, as after 300 days of radio silence and screaming into the void, we got a content update, and what did drop was effing fantastic.
I love what's on offer here already, and I've gotten around 10 hours of enjoyment out of the last content update alone. This is some good stuff.
They added a bunch of massive new areas, new weapons, enemies, lore, upgrades.. Tons of other stuff too.
And I gotta say, the set dressing, and design work on display is awesome looking. Especially some of the interior design in the Library. That dome with all the murals on it looked really cool. This game is fun and good looking.

But man, the devs really do have a communication problem. 300+ days of not a single word on what's next or when. Me, and a lot of other customers rightfully thought the game had been silently abandoned and that we were all SOL.
Come on, guys. TALK to us. at least a little bit. Don't gotta spew out every tiny little thing you do / think of from day to day like the Wrath devs do, but.. SOMETHING every now and then. Especially when it becomes evident that your fans and customers are becoming legitimately worried over the lack of communication.

Almost two years later, and Capcom STILL hasn't fixed their idiotic netcode.
Wanna play with and have a fun experience with friends?
Well, tough titzi's, you're getting DC'd from not only the lobby, but the game as a whole every five to ten minutes.
You gotta be fast as greased lightning if you wanna kill that tempered zombie dragon and get all your crap before the game kicks your butt back into a solo session because it feels like screwing you over for the thirteenth time that half hour.
Now, on some days, I get away with maybe one or three random disconnects over a several hour long play session, but most days, it's only a couple minutes between each kick to the rear end.
And it is SERIOUSLY grating on my nerves.
Capcom, FIX YOUR F*****G S**T!'

And don't buy this game if you want to play it mainly for the multiplayer.
This game will try everything in its might to make you play singleplayer exclusively.
