To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Raildex. The magic spells and ESPer powers are extremely tightly bound to real-world ideas, and without a solid grasp of basic high school physics, multiple mythologies/religions, and the writings of Aleister Crowley, most of the concepts will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Accelerator's self-hating outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - the shift in his personal philosophy over the course of the series draws heavily from the idea of the move from the Aeon of Osiris to the Aeon of Horus, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity and background knowledge to truly appreciate the depths of these references, to realize that they're not just trivia - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence, people who dislike Raildex truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the hidden meaning in Touma's existential catchphrase "You're not living your life correctly," which itself is a cryptic reference to the Thelemic concept of finding one's True Will, which underlies both an ESPer's Personal Reality and a magician's Magic Name. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kamachi's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them.
