Early Access Review
Please help this game win 'Best Berry Eating Simulator' for the awards!

So after playing the game for like 4ish hours, here is my serious review:
I am weighting each category according to its importance to myself, with a total of 100.

Server Stability: 0/5
-Server login did not work at launch.
-Several hours later it intermittenly worked/did not work, depending when you tried to log on.
-Next day, was disconnected from 2/3 servers I played on
-When logging out of one server to attempt to log into another, game crashes.
-Servers are now down to try to 'improve server stability' so hopefully this will be a 5/5 score soon.

Server Menu and Character Setup: 1/5
-No effective way to sort servers, besides scrolling through the whole alphabetical list.
-Each server has its settings listed (1st person only, headshot only, etc)
-Each server you have to make a new character, this is fine. But you cannot reuse names you have used on other servers, then it says the name is already taken. IMO, should be per server.
-No character customization at ALL yet, you get a random character.

Graphics: 5/10
-Graphics are decent, a lot of detail in each house.
-Weather effects look cool with graphics turned up. (rain)
-Water looks okay, and the foliage is decent too.
-When someone else is bleeding you can see it dripping off of them.
-Arrow graphics are still messy, but it works for now.

Sounds: 3/5
-In game voice chat is pretty bad, some people sound way too soft while others sound fine. I know it is based on distance but I had a friend standing right next to me and I could barely hear him.
-Animal sounds are good, zombie sounds are good too.
-Directional sound is a bit off, but not too terribly bad.
-Airdrop sounds are terrible, and you can hear some even if you never see the plane that goes with it. I heard like 12 people call in airdrops while I played.

Gameplay: 27/50
-Honestly it is pretty much like DayZ except you can craft some stuff and build some stuff. I personally have not seen anyone get far enough in the game to build something because everyone is just running around like a-holes killing each other on PvP servers. lol.
-I *love* the crafting system, having to discover each recipe is great to me. So far I figured out recipes for makeshift bow, arrows, blueberry juice, purified water, IED, the spikey trap thing, really just the basics. I only had an axe for about 30 seconds so I didn't get to see much else.
-I have played other survival games, but this one drains hunger/thirst way faster than others. That is a negative imo.. but there are blueberries everywhere so it isnt really a problem, it is just annoying.
-P2W crates are terrible in my opinion. Not so much because they are doing it but because of the bait and switch.. no one knew about it and now everyone is raging.
-Not enough loot to go around for how many people are on each server it is a pretty small map that I have seen and every single thing is looted in every house.

Community: 7/20
-Do not trust anyone, even if they say they are friendly. :p Just run away.
-Honestly this is an average score for any game like this, especially on servers where you can pvp. It is not as bad as Rust, and similar to DayZ. Yes I was on a PvP server for most of my play time, but there were many instances where I would help people (for instance, I killed a wolf chasing some dude when his gf was screaming 'help' on voice chat) then they would stand right next to me and headshot me with a noob bow (they said thanks, asked for some berries, i went in my inv and he walked right up and 1 shot me with makeshift bow, took my military backpack and gun, ammo, etc.) Others would say they are friendly, then try to whack you with a stick or their fists. The only ones who really wanted to team up and be nice were ones who had just spawned in fresh or from death and had nothing, go figure. This is NOT Sony's fault, it is just the norm for this game genre. It is the expected 'same as DayZ' crowd.

Communication from the Game Devs: 3/5
-They have for the most part kept people updated on Twitter
-They changed their story about the airdrops on release day...shame.
-Gave 30 mins notice on shutting down servers to fix server stability.

So in conclusion, I give this game a 46/100 in its current state. Once the gameplay and server stability are worked on it might be closer to a passing grade, but for now I would pass, and would give it a couple months before buying if you are fine with the P2W crate model. Supposedly they are making guns less common right now, so we will see.
