Great game, even for someone who isn't much into hack n slash games like me and starting from the actual metal gears this game was a lot of fun for me. Though the port to PC is subpar, as it doesn't support higher framerates or resolutions (so I was stuck in 1080p windowed), it was still a good game. I also think that raiden's character was treated well, though I can see why people have an issue with it, I think it's a good direction for his character to go.
Included DLCs are cool too, I liked blade wolf dlc quite a bit, jetstream was mediocre though. (and both are VERY short, only like an hour and a half for jetstream and like 45 minutes for blade wolf if you're bad).
But for 30 bucks this far after it's release, do not buy it. Wait for a sale and it's an easy recommendation then.

It's fairly promising, obviously just an early vertical slice but for what they've got to show so far I can see this going places. Art direction is very authentic to half-life 2, more-so than even half-life alyx. Feels mostly accurate to hl2 movement, though not exact. Main issue though is the poor performance. Most games of this nature should run quite well on my system but it hovers at around 30 fps or less which is pretty bad. Hoping these early issues get refined and maybe get to try a longer demo some day. It's just around 10 minutes, which isn't much to go off of.

Seems all the major bugs the update caused got patched, though despite that this dlc is very lackluster and under-baked.
The survivors feel pretty clunky sometimes, with seeker's primary having an inate delay that makes her wonky to play. The secret character also is pretty obviously under-baked, with janky animations. Unfortunately chef is raw ass, his procs are horrible, his skills lack impact, and his gameplan just boils down to spamming m1 at enemies. His primary skill is very clunky and bad, because it has the same charges system that artificier's primary has. This makes sense only for arti because her primary has a lot of impact and lasting damage, chef lacks that impact necessary to warrant his primary having limited cooldowns like that. You also have to manually recall your cleavers when you throw them, which makes it just a nuisance to keep track of where your cleaver is at all times.
The items don't fare any better than the survivors, unfortunately. The items don't really fill any niche that was missing, and they don't synergize much at all with SOTV and base game items. They just bloat the item pool for the most part, making for a lot of free scrap. Though there are some fun and a little broken items here and there, like sale star. Despite a few good items, most are really unintuitive and have effects you can hardly feel or notice. Like war bonds (a red item btw) only gives you gold at the start of a stage, being only enough for like 3 small chests.
The stages are very pretty and well made, though I will complain that most of the new stages feel just oversized and are a bit of a mess to go through, often taking a good minute or two longer to full loot compared to their alternatives.
The new boss isn't very fun to fight either, though definitely a step up over voidling.
Of course though the music is nutty. As always.
I'll have to say to not buy this dlc, it doesn't provide much for most people given the middling quality of the content provided and how it negatively impacts the rest of the game.

Seems the devs are actually fixing all the crap that the seekers update caused. It's worth getting the game now.

A really fun and challenging game that explores a lot of unique ideas that just seem to work great when combined together. There's plenty of things to do and things to challenge yourself with here; despite it seeming short it somehow finds a way to drag you back in to do more with its engaging gameplay loop.
Give it a shot, it's worth the money even though its still early access.
Community is obnoxious, though. Just avoid all that and you should be alright.

A great recreation of one of the best games ever. It respects the original while leaving plenty in the way for creative ideas not yet seen. The gun-play is quite nice and "punchy", especially the revolver.
The recreated chapters were changed to be notably more enjoyable than before while not detracting too much from what made those chapters interesting.
It's altogether a great experience for half-life fans who are looking to see their favorite game in a new light or perhaps if you just need your fix for good ol' shooter action.
However, if you're planning on coming in as a newcomer to the franchise, you should probably refrain from playing this first and instead play the original THEN Black Mesa after you complete the main line of games; this game does a lot to differentiate itself from the original half-life to where it's more than a "remake" and more a reimagining.

This game is great, but it does have a couple of issues. For one the HECU can be more than a challenge and sometimes border on a level of being kind of unfair, though it could just be "skill issue" on my part. The ending chapters do drag on for too long in some parts. Other than that I can't think of much else I have wrong with it. Go buy this game, whether it's full price or on sale; who cares just get it!
