Early Access Review
After playing for a few hours, I'm a little bit disappointed.

The biggest issue I've found is unresponsive controls. Sometimes I will right-click or left-click repeatedly, but my gun will not fire or ADS. This is a fundamental issue in an FPS - if your gun is failing to fire 1/3rd of the time, something has gone wrong. Of course, this is somewhat forgivable since it's in beta, but after a certain point, the absolute fundamentals of your game should be functional.

There are other fundamental settings/features that are missing. For some reason, there isn't a 'prone' yet. The devs have explained that they want the prone to be exceptional when its implemented, but I don't see why you can't start with a basic, but functional prone and then iterate from there. Not having prone in a tactical shooter is akin to no handbrake in a racing game. sure, it works without it, but it's a hell of a lot less interesting/fun.

When I first booted into the game, the controls were pretty damn unresponsive. One thing I noticed was that there wasn't a Vsync option in the settings, but I had a hunch that Vsync was on by default, which was introducing a lot of input lag. I went into my Nvidia control panel and disabled it. The controls were noticeable more responsive. Vsync should be an option in the settings menu.

Even with Vsync disabled, it doesn't feel amazing. The game is not very optimized at all, so expect a bunch of frame dips. I still feel noticeable input lag, which is quite unsatisfying, but it's useable with Vsync disabled.

Even if all of the mentioned issues were fixed, the game needs a lot more content and features before I'd consider it worth 20-40$. There are definitely games in the 20$ range that will scratch the tacitcal itch a lot better than this game can at this exact moment. Overall, I'd definitely wait on purchasing, unless you really believe in the vision and just want to support the devs.

I'm a mobile player, on my mobile account I am a master / grandmaster. This version of risk is easily the best version of risk out there. The amount of flexibility you are given to configure the games exactly as you please is simply sublime.

I read through quite a few reviews, and noticed most of the negative points come from a lack of understanding of how the game works. For example, If you don't like your blitz attacks to have a potentially poor outcome, such as a 20-1 loss, make sure you either have the 'balanced blitz' filter on, or you click the arrow on the dice so you only attack with a few troops at a time. In fact, experiment with all the different game types so you can configure your filter to only play games you like.

The biggest criticism I see people make of this game is the monetization. For starters, players are given a set amount of 'coins', I think enough to play six games, and they gradually refill over time. Personally, I have almost never run out of coins, and you need to play for quite a few hours, unless you are playing short games, to run out of coins. That is, however, something the dev should consider - 10 coins in a progressive card game equals way less playtime than in a fixed card game, for example. I believe you are rewarded with coins based on in-game performance, though I'm not 100% certain. in order to remove the coin limit, you must make a one-time premium purchase, which gives you some cosmetic stuff along with unlimited coins and a large map pack. I'm not sure if playing with friends costs coins, but if it does that should be nixed cuz that's just silly.

The other qualm is the map packs. The way Risk works is if you purchase a map pack, you can host a game on a unique set of maps, and anybody with or without the map pack can join and play on that map. I consider this to be a fair and lenient monetization style, especially when compared to the absurd microtransactions in other mobile games. Devs could probably use more sales, such as bundling premium with a few other map packs at a heavily discounted price a few times a year, but other than that, I see nothing wrong with this system.

All in all, if you love strategy games, this is the one-stop-shop. My best advice is to keep your cool, don't be afraid to lie, and play your opponents against each other. You'll be a GM in no time.

The gameplay is good. However, everything outside the gameplay provides a terrible user experience. The UI is all around amateurish and hard to navigate. This is especially painful with the inventory system. Like many games, KF2 has a lootbox system. This game is very generous with how many lootboxes it gives out, but it's almost not worth it, because of how painful opening lootboxes is. Half the time when opening a lootbox, you sit on an idle unskippable animation for 15 seconds before a message pops up telling you the server failed. Even when the server doesn't fail, you have to go through each lootbox individually with painfully long animations, making opening 10 or 20 lootboxes very tedious.

This is a very simplistic shooter, and as such, it's funnest whenever you're playing it together with your friends or family.

The issue is that I have no motivation to play the online portion of this game, and therefore no way to earn the coins necessary to unlock characters. I'm kind of dumbfounded by that fact that we can't play with all the characters while offline. It would be an easy upvote for me otherwise.

more people need to be playing this game, because it's fun as hell. With that said, after about an hour or two of playing, some random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ banned me from the only active server for no reason. So, idk what to say about that.

Early Access Review
This game has a lot of potential, but there are way to mant problems right now, although, you may expect that in an Early access game. Here were some of my main problems -

It is basically impossible to escape zombies, especially considering how hard it is to find a weapon.

You really need to redo the system you have on inventory, hunger, radiation, and thirst. Makes no sense.

It is really annoying that zombies just respawn right in the middle of town so quickly. It is impossible to traverse the towns without 20 zombies on your ass at every give mement.

Surviving as a whole, is really just confusing and inconsistent. That needs to be fixed.
