Previously;
Will change to recommended if the PSN linking decision is reversed.
Sticking up for those fellow divers from countries not supporting PSN.

If the backlash wasn't so huge from us players, Sony would've done nothing for sure. This is a huge win for Gamers and Sony will definitely not learn their lesson when they inevitably do something like this again in the future for other games.

Other than that.... Game is amazing!

Early Access Review
Casino changed everything.
We now get to suffer in unison to the compulsive addiction of gambling, just so that after hours of vigorous spacebar mashing we can splurge our winnings on a wheel that issues potatoes, hula dolls and the irritatingly undesirable cactus.

But really now, Tower Unite is now ultra fun to play since the community has been pulled together, and we'll be pulled together more and more as the Plaza gains more content.

---1 Year later---
About 50 jackpots and 1600 hours in, still good, it got better, see you next year.

---2 Years Later---
Workshop changed the game immensely, I love this game and I will not stop playing. Developers are the coolest and continue to add huge additions to the game. Hugely recommended.

---3 Years Later---
Lobby 3 came out, Exp and milestone systems and you can fish now, love the game to bits.

---4 years later---
Still playing, still amazing, and it has now gained the Arcade which blew my mind, and recently Accelerate Alpha. Tower Unite is amazing with so many things to do and keeps getting better. I can't wait for the new Accelerate tracks, and more milestones to collect. Since playing from Day 1 this game has changed so much, it may still be Early access but it's nothing to worry about, Tower Unite has more to do than I believe every other similar social gamemode type games out there.
The developers are still working hard and always updating us with what they're up to, this is why I'm a patron and they deserve every penny they get from us, here's to another year playing this wonderful game.

You know when you just fall in love with a song that you can't stop listening to? But then 50 listens later you start to get sick of the song and shove it in a music folder that builds up of over years, and now you have a big folder of music you know every word to and every beat, that it's pointless playing as you can rehearse the entire song in your head?
Well now you can play all those songs one last time but while killing a ton of visually hypnotic geometric "things".

Pros:
You get to play an arena whose visuals and enemies attack to the tune of your music.
The visuals are very hypnotic and very smooth blending of colours and effects.
You can customise what and how your ship shoots, by changing weapons or the angle they fire.
Progression on ship upgrading and unlocking difficulties.
Bosses that appear mid song that you must destroy.
Leaderboards for the included songs, I believe there's one for own songs too but I guess you and friends need the exact same file in order for it to work. (Don't quote me on this)

Cons:
Only 2 colours, well main colours anyway, I would have liked to see full on rainbows or different colours depending on the music.
I wish more geometric attacking "things" would warp the music. Only encountered one that changes audio balance.
OP square sniper things, I hate them! I hate them so much! Especially the smaller ones on Hard+

My cons are quite personal, I really enjoy the game and couldn't really find anything "con"ish, but there could definitely be improvements.

General Opinion
I like the game, It's something you'll wanna keep installed and just play a few tunes every so often. It does start a little slow and easy but if you push up the difficulties a bit, at around medium you'll start to realise firing backwards becomes pretty important. Then by Hard you're just confused at where you need to shoot. Enemies become more difficult to kill and you keep getting hammered from the sides and behind. It gets crazy, but awesome crazy.
I'd say if you have a big music folder you'll have a lot of fun replaying all your songs while murdering a really angry music demon from another dimension.

As a side-note; I played this on GNU/Linux (Ubuntu LTS), Only had one mouse problem where after each game I had to move the mouse to each corner of the screen otherwise it hit an invisible edge. Other than that the game ran flawlessly, and wouldn't hold a little bug like that against it.

This is an amazing game, if you're into any kind of Space games I'm confident you'll love this one.
I'll give a summary of individual features (some opinions);

Story - Actually engaging. You want to read everything and listen to the characters voices, it's really well made and you find yourself remembering names and places that in most games you skip through. Not only that, the story is optional, there are some benefits from it that I have experienced so far but nothing says you can't fly off and do what you want.

Customisation - You can buy multiple ships with different benefits, some with more weapons, cargo space, equipment slots etc.. Multiple weapons can be equipped, including different types so you can mix and match to suit your playstyle. Equipment slots let you equip enhancements like Shields, Armour, Speed boosts, Mining equipment and more. You can turn your ship into what you want it to be.

Freedom - As I said above, nothing stops you from going anywhere, earning Credits(currency) how you please. You can go to safe Systems and mine rocks in comfort, sell them at stations to pure profit. You can buy/sell commodities to and from stations. You can complete side missions for NPCs, involving Pirate killing, transport, selling items to them and many other activities. Or go hunt down enemy factions and take what you want, then sell it off. Much to do!

Graphics - I think the graphics are great. The Systems in the game all look spectacular and the Planets are superbly well made. You see the screenshots, I need say no more.

Other stuff;
Travelling is very well made and navigation help is quite minimal.
Scanning / Lock on system is also really cool. No simple button to instant loot, you have to aim your tractor beam at your loot and allow it to fully activate, same with auto navigation, you must lock onto your target before auto navigating. Both can be improved by buying better equipement.

There are only very minor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for me. Firstly the AI sometimes seems a little lacking, they'll fly right through asteroids and sometimes I have exited a Station inside one. The asteroid generation is also similar, sometimes you get asteroids clipped into the Station / Jump gate. The Auto navigation is also a bit silly, It will fly your ship directly into an asteroid, it doesn't fly around objects. Again not too big of a deal but it could be improved.

Overall the game is worth it by far for space sim lovers and anyone alike.
