I recommend this program because of how simple it is to set up and its availability to starting artists. Its feature set is limited, but it has everything you need to make a simple talking picture. That said, in many places its a bit lackluster. Its missing a few QoL features and the documentation is...nonexistent. There's a couple annoying bugs which for the most part are extremely benign and easy to work around, but still speaks for the overall quality.

For getting a feel for making an avatar, learning about phonemes, and simply getting the bare-bones down while making something tangible this program works for that. Overall however, I will say it is not the best and could definitely use some polish and upgrades (and unfortunately, it kinda looks like development has stopped, so I don't think those are coming anytime soon). If you want simple, lightweight, works, and *free*, this is it, but if you want to build something a bit more extravagant (interactable backgrounds, animation triggers, hotswappable outfits, expression toggles, etc), you will outgrow this very quickly.

I had a lot of fun with this and learned a lot along the way. Def give it a try, just for fun x3

For the record, I have more hours than listed.

Fast, clean shooter with loads of replayability and speedrun support. Not a huge fan of the "mind blown" mechanic, but I get its to prevent softlocks. A must have if you have room scale

Broke new ground on release, however is severely falling behind in terms of updates and features. Great platform to make a quick online shooter, but in terms of what the game offers on its own its not much. Still super fun to play.

One of the few games that motivated me to get out a pen and paper to follow along with. That's a high bar.

This review is strictly for the VR version of this game. I have not played the non VR title.

I started this up and hopped into a public alley when it comes to first impressions I was blown away at the accuracy of the pin action and effect of oil patterns. However the more I played the more problems I encountered. I tried to play a game with a friend of mine in a head to head format but when he started the match the menu to start the match stayed open for me. When I tried to close it it simply went back to the main menu options while still blocking the lane. Mind you this menu was spawned in their location, not mine. I didn't get a game menu so I figured it was a lobby style structure where he was host. I pressed start to see if it would fix it but instead it just reloaded me in and put me in another lane which I guess is technically working but not exactly the same.

So I thought whatever I'll just play a solo game its fine and things were back to going ok until I decided I wasn't a huge fan of the action on the default ball and wanted to try a new one. So I go to the ball menu and I'm met with a long list of premade ball styles. I found one that I thought would better suit my throw and selected it which deselected the previous ball. However, when you return to game the prior default ball is not removed nor replaced. Its instead added to the pool of balls you have and will be automatically selected in a rotation style. This means that if you as a player want to deviate from the default ball combo you lose the ability to have the ball you want when you pull the trigger and instead have to manually pick the ball you want every single time. Fun fact, if you throw a ball away from your lane in an attempt to rid it from your set, it counts as if it went down the lane. I don't think even wii bowling did that.

Ball in hand positioning. On index controllers by default the ball is placed at the top of your controller as if you had it like a wand, so basically its like you're playing skiiball than bowling. I do believe this can be adjusted somewhere deep in the menu system but I cannot confirm that.

more nitpicks:
-The game defaults you to a maximum hook 16lb ball
-You can't really tell where your body is as there's no indication to space like a shadow or a dot on the floor
-Unless you have the space there's no way to emulate finding your position, aiming, and walking forward
-The avatar selection screen reloads the entire world every time you scroll through their selection of premade people. on this reload you're completely blind. Its really disorienting and took forever.
-There's no confirmation when you want to leave the game so if you just press B too many times oops you closed the game. This also includes when you first launch the game. If you press B it will just close.
-Not integrated with Steam Friends
-No in-game guide
-Can't scroll with analog sticks, must use touch pad.
-The touchpad and stick are both bound to walk. The touchpad on knuckle controllers are not made for movement.
-There's a chance closing the game doesn't bring you to steam home. Really small tho only happened once.
-Lanes are missing the second row of arrows

The pros:
+Pin action is really really solid. By far the most accurate I've seen in a game.
+The pin machine is really accurate and adds a nice level of immersion
+The vibe of the different alleys is varied and nice all around
+I wasn't in the public areas long but the community I saw was really nice

If the devs are still working and updating this game I'll come back and update this review.
TL;DR on a technical level this game is phenomenal and shows a lot of promise but in its current state of polish I can't bring myself to recommend it.
